I want to shoot this weekend (Sunday) and I most of the time go to Cheatham Co. WMA.
Is it worth the drive for me to head down to CHMR near Franklin?
CMHR is a nice place to shoot. Charlie is always friendly, helpful and is an overall great guy. If you go on weekends space will be at a premium. That is ok though because the people that shoot there are always nice which helps because brass is always flying toward your neighbor since it does get quite crowded. It's not that bad of a drive from Nashville if you have easy access to I65. I have never been to Cheatham Co WMA so I can't compare the two. I have wondered the same thing though about making the trip to Cheatham since it isn't very far out.
The guy that owns Guns and Ammo Depot in Bellevue has a range in the works off Hwy 70 near Ashland City. As far as I know the range is finished, but the county has shut it down because the owner failed to submit to file a site plan, so they say. In reality, people in the area complained just because they don't like the idea of a range there. I didn't mean to change the subject, but if you shoot at Cheatham, the story may be worth following.
