CCA / High Velocity LTD IAHTF AR15 build clinic and full auto shoot - FEB 4TH

all,

we have a date for the fall build clinic and shoot. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 4TH 8am...

- we can build, shoot, and all points in between. for those who want to build, we'll start early and that way a good portion of the day can be used for shooting, talking gear, trying each other's stuff on, etc.
- we'll have armorers onsite to help you build.
- like the last time, buying, selling, trading, etc. are all acceptable. you can horse trade all day with one another as far as i care... all transactions and actions will be kept within the law or your ass is gone.
- i'll have steel targets and such for shooting and we can shoot just about any kind of firearm - pistol, rifle, shotgun are all welcome... i even have a sit down twin clay pidgeon thrower. if you guys want to do some of that, let me know in this thread...
- high velocity ltd will be there with some NFA stuff as well as the controlled chaos arms collection - NFA rentals will be available as such

here is the run down:

-let me know in this thread what you want to build/cover and we'll try and cater to it - carbine, SPR, varminters, precision builds, etc.
-potluck lunch - post here what you can bring and we'll make a go of it together
-builders, spectators, shooters are welcome as long as you're safe and respectful
-i'll have some nametags to fill out for folks (i can generally remember people's names or handle, but rarely both and never at the right time... maybe this'll help)
-provide me a headcount by hitting the thread so i can be prepared
-liability waivers will be required to participate
-come expecting fun...

thanks in advance for your willingness to come and participate and thanks to all those who came and provided in the past. i'm looking forward to it!

-michael

*****ETA

we're adding this to the mix this time:

dave came up with a really good suggestion for an informal and cheap competition that will double as a fund raiser... we're going to give it a whirl...

RIMFIRE comp... we'll use the 50 yard range and have five little self resetting targets for you to shoot close, then at intermediate range we'll have three more at roughly 3" size, and then at the 50 yard mark we'll have two more (open sights or unmagnified optics shooting large steel plates roughly 7" and those weapons with magnified optics shooting something a tad less than half that size at roughly 3")...

10 total steel targets. 10 total rounds. timed - failures can be cleared and you can continue, but the timer remains running. timer starts upon your first shot down range. $1 per run. unlimited runs - if a line exists, you'll need to move to the back for your next run. best ratio of hits/time wins the pot. the winner of the pot chooses the organization or charity they wish to give the winnings to...

this will be cheap and easy for everyone to participate and have some fun. proceeds will benefit some great orgs!

i'll make a couple of my 22 weapons available for people to borrow if they need them. i have a dedicated AR15 in 22LR, and several 22 pistols. i also have some ciener conversion kits for AR15s some can borrow and try if they need or want them as well.

if you choose to use some of my stuff or borrow someone elses, just be sure and bring some quality 22LR ammo to utilize...

ETA***

a couple of additions to the 'value added' day:

john paul from JP Rifles is planning on sending down something special for people to handle and consider...

bret clikeman of BCE-AR is planning on coming with some of his new product...

it is really great to have the locals right here in the midwest able and willing to participate. we might have a few more surprises up our sleeves too...

THERE IS NO RAIN DAY - we'll be here rain or shine - the NFA weapon rentals may or may not continue based on weather at the moment, but the rimfire comp, the build clinic, the shoot and use of the range, the potluck, etc. will all continue. we'll just wear mittens... ;)

Oh, you'll learn something.
Much of it will require psychotropic drugs and spiritual counseling to put behind you, but you'll learn something alright.
Fortunately, most there will be in the same boat so it's really like a mental breakdown inducing, touchy, feely, huggy, kissy support group all at the same time.
Usually lots of tears and "I love you. Man"s going around.
Some hand holding.
In my limited experience, I've learnt that there are a couple to by more wary of then the others, but I will not name them so that you too can learn the lesson the hard way.
You know, so it sinks in.

Hiya Jan,

Not really an inside joke....its just that BobRoberts really has a thing against garden tools.....enough that he must do violence to them on sight. BTW, sorry I haven't gotten back to your e-mail....I will.
Please do come, it is always a good time with a bunch of great people.

I'm down, contingent on a visit to one of our clients at work that has a date that's up in the air right now. We might be coming back that Saturday.

Should I bring an extra shovel? Maybe the best plan is to bring some reflective vests to put on all garden tools while BobRoberts is around.

I'll bring some of my toys. Just put an Apex DCAEK and RAM in my M&P if anyone is interested in experiencing that. Also may have a Galloway Precision trigger in my LC9 by then contingent on whether Eric gets his trigger bar sorted...

yea, give people more time to scrounge up some spare parts... or plan ahead to buy parts.

we could try and figure something else out, maybe?

Do we also need to exclude Thomas from the shovel shoot? Wouldn't be fair with his experience in that field

ok...

dave came up with a really good suggestion for an informal and cheap competition that will double as a fund raiser... we're going to give it a whirl...

RIMFIRE comp... we'll use the 50 yard range and have five little self resetting targets for you to shoot close, then at intermediate range we'll have three more at roughly 3" size, and then at the 50 yard mark we'll have two more (open sights or unmagnified optics shooting large steel plates roughly 7" and those weapons with magnified optics shooting something a tad less than half that size at roughly 3")...

this will be cheap and easy for everyone to participate and have some fun. proceeds will benefit some great orgs!

i'll make a couple of my 22 weapons available for people to borrow if they need them. i have a dedicated AR15 in 22LR, and several 22 pistols. i also have some ciener conversion kits for AR15s some can borrow and try if they need or want them as well.

Awesome idea! I'm in.

edit: I don't know about the unlimited runs feature though. If you get a small group of the top fastest shooters they may keep going forever until someone finally gives up. What if you made it $10 for 5 runs and keep your best out of 5?

we're trying to keep it simple this time through... bring your 17 if you want, but there are tons of 22s we can use to keep a level field. you can use it if you want, i really don't care... it is more about fun and participation than winning. besides, the winner will be choosing the org or charity, so it isn't huge if the occasional dude has a slight advantage.

we want participation first, and we'll worry about the small stuff later.

if we have so many that we can't get them all through, we'll limit the number of runs. otherwise, no worries.

If I knew I was going to be there I would bring my .22 silhouette animals.
Like theses.
I do still need to get the feet welded on.
Put the Chickens at 40 yards, the Pigs at 60, the Turkeys at 77 (or 75), and the Rams at 100.
5 of each, shoot in any order, any .22LR standing, no sling, any sight.
One minute time limit per bank.
A lot harder than you might think.
A LOT harder than you might think.
