Any body have a tech 2? or other smart scanner.
I have a random missfire and my scanner doesnt have a misfire list like I know the tech 2 has.
Let me be the first to say "I have no idea what you are talking about".
Can you elaborate?
I may have one and not know it!
I'm assuming it's a brand of OBD 2 reader? I always just get one from m&o if I need it. Contemplated it, but my ranger is obd 1
You know if it's the simple type of scanner, those are nothing more than a bridge from the code output of your auto to a lamp in the box. They blink out the codes. You can do the same thing with a paper clip and make your dash lights blink out the code. If you are talking about an honest to god scanner and diagnostic tool that can look at programming and other registers so you can see sensor history and such, that's another ball game.
I have a simple code reader it was only like 250ish and I am able to get the code P0300 which means random misfire. But on the more advanced scan tools there is a page you can go to where you can see how many times each cyl has misfired. its a 05 gm 5.3 engine and I dont know if the miss is caused by: bad intake gasket, coil, or if the crank needs to be re-calibrated.
So I am looking for GM's scanner, or equivalent. snap-on modis, otc Genesis something like that. ( i knew I should have bought one when I had the cabbage)
Auto Enginuity is a diagnostic program you can install on your PC, very comparable to a Tech2. It can do close to about 90-95% of the things a Tech2 can do, but for much less. I just don't think it will reflash a PCM/ECU. Check it out.
