How much do Europeans pay for ammo?

I was wondering what ammo costs in different parts of the world.

How much is regular FMJ 9mm, .45acp, .223, etc., in Europe?

Can you even get XM193?

I'm curious if there is an ammo shortage in Europe like we are experiencing in the US and if prices have been doubling and tripling.

There isn't an ammo shortage over here, just a cash shortage.

I used to be able to buy 1,000 Gecco 9mm for DM199, it now costs €189
1,120 S&B .223 Rem 55gn used to cost DM320 and it now costs €316
I don't shoot .45 but 1,000 Gecco FMJ will cost you €420, the cheap'n'nasty Wolf, costs €269 for a K.

The prices have doubled in less than a decade, nearly the same sum but we traded two Deutschemark's for one €uro when it was introduced. Unfortunately my wage hasn't kept up with that inflation rate.

As a direct result I do a lot of .22LR shooting, and only shoot the full bore when the cash flow allows it, although I do have a K or two of 9mm and .223 in the house.

We can't get the XM193 in Germany as far as I'm aware.

Sounds like the ammo in Germany is almost the same price as here.

Andrew, about 3 years ago I used to go to US web pages for ammo price dreams, as they have always been way to high over here, if you want a laugh ask some of the blokes from over on the UKHTF what they pay for their ammo, be prepared to cry.... I know I did.

Here we pay around DKK 4,75 = 86 us-cents for Sellier+Bellot .303, 8x57 and other specialty FMJ. (1 K buys) DKK 3,50 for Norma Golden Target 6,5x55 or 4,50 for the equivalent molycoated (Diamond Line). This target ammo is partly supported with gaming tax funds. .30 carbine can be had for DKK 3,00. 5,56 (Danish surplus M/01 (made by Thun/RUAG)) for around DKK 2,00 if you buy 1000*. But the best 6,5 swedish available (Lapua) costs DKK 12- 15,00 a pop...

Last time I was in Germany, I got cases of free ammo from my DOD liaison, but it was a bit of a hassle having to account for and return every piece of brass for inventory control.

ATM, there is plenty to go at in the UK,

.223 55gr FMJ RWS (DAG) £31 GBP per 100 (this is excelent quality ammo for the price)
7.62 147 gr MEN NATO Milsurp £28 - £35 GBP per 100
5.56 62gr RG Milsurp £28 - £35 GBP per 100 (alot depends here on DATE OF MANF) this will also dry up soon as no more will be released into the civilian market
9mm is in abundance, however firearms to use them in are not £15 - £20 per 100
