Vacationing in Germany or Switzerland. Where to go to have fun?
Let me give you some back story first. I was invited to a friend's wedding in Poland which was nearly a year and a half ago and now that I've got my passport I decided I should get up off my ass and actually see some more of Europe. I'm 26 and single so unless I find a friend with some money saved up I'm likely going alone.
So my question is, assuming you were also a 26 year old looking to have a good time, where would you go in Germany and/or Switzerland? (I'd like to visit both but I have to visit one of them first and at the moment I can't make my mind up as to which I'd rather go visit first.) I'm not sure how I could explain what I mean by a good time without violating the conduct code but I'm sure you sort of have an idea what I mean.
As far as when I'd be going, I'd say sometime before the end of the year. I was initially thinking Oktoberfest but honestly I tend to want to avoid the touristy kind of things and the fact that least year there was 6 million visitors to Munich for the festival last year is kind of a turn off as large crowds are generally problematic. Plus it seems as though the hotel room prices are damn near double the entire 2+ weeks. During Christmas seems like it might be a good idea because I'd get to spend more time there without using much vacation time and I'd get to avoid some of my more annoying relatives. But if there is something awesome going on, like say a music festival or something I'd be open to go then too.
I'm in my initial data collection phase so any input at all would be appreciated.
You'll enjoy Germany more than Switzerland.
Get in the car and head to Italy through Bavaria. Wind through Switzerland and Austria.
There is tons of fun on the way.
I have never been the touristy type in any of my travels, and I'm sure I have more fun than most.
Beers in a pub with new found friends is perfect for me.
If you are into the party nightlife, then I am am at a loss........Large cities will hold that for ya.

Cool. Why is that?
My friend really wants to go to Oktoberfest but it's starting to look like everything is already booked up in Munich. I would think that really any of the larger cities, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin would be tons of fun as long as you know where to go. That's the key though, knowing where to go.
I found this wiki page which has some nice info.

I used to go to KPO (Kunst Park Ost) about 10 or so years ago when it first started, as it was one of the only places that you could get into. A lot of the nightclubs (P1) in Munich are very snobish and cater to the very wealthy VIP troop, and it is hardly worth it, too expensive and clanish if you don't belong you are better off going somewhere else.
Don't know when you are planning on coming over, when you get here give me a call, I don't go clubbing any more but I could arrange some shooting for you while you are here.

I am currently in Germany, and tomorrow I head to Prague for a few days. From there, I will head to Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Bern, Stuttgart, Munich and back to Frankfurt before I fly back home in a few weeks. I've traveled to all these places before, but I just happen to like Germany.

Will do. So far we are planning on arriving on September 18th and leaving on the 26th. I honestly don't think we'll be able to drink for 8 days straight. My friend is looking to get a tattoo there too as a souvenir so if you happen to know of any respectable shops let me know.

There are more than enough Tattoo shops around, and they are all as good as another, as far as I know, but that isn't my lot, having resisted having any myself.
