best fishing spot near of Austin, that ain't near lake travis
wifey want to go wet a line this sunday; wheres the best chance to catch sumptin for a guy w/o a boat,
and something besides catfish; I like mr. whiskers, she's not that fond.

Have you tried Lake Pflugerville? It is supposed to be stocked with Bass and some others. I haven't fished in years so I can't say how good the fishing is there, but I see a lot of people out fishing when I am there. There is also no entry fee for the park, which is nice.
Lake Bastrop.
Go to Emma Long Park on lake Austin. Big shade trees, couple of docks down by the swim area, (lighted at night, the white bass swarm the place) green grass and good bank fishing. Pack a picnic lunch while you are at it.
