The bridge is wired for video and sound, every inch of it. HD video. The Dallas PD and DSO have caught grafitti kids before they have gotten close enough to spray the bridge? Some group wants to spray paint the road on the bridge? No chance. I can already imagine the trap being set. The bridge is simple to shutdown on both sides with just a dozen squad cars total.

Plus, this "memorial" is about some dude who was stunt riding through traffic in Grand Prairie and crashed into the back of car. It was not some glorified ball of fire death. More like some stupid darwin award thing.

Oh Good God...never heard of any of this just see those idiots blasting down the tollway/635 doing their wheelies and crap at 90mph all the time...would think there'd be alot more of them to "memorialize". I've thought about this for a year after watching prior year's video. What would prevent a person or two just put their trucks in drive and drive over these folks or hop out and start pushing their bikes over? Think Dallas would prosecute?

I don't think the police could do much to stop them even if they tried. That is, unless those dorks get out on that bridge. Then they can be easily trapped.

The important thing to remember here is that this group is just a bunch of attention whores. Most have only been riding 2 years or less. Dorks who decide to buy a sport bike and live their little outlaw biker fantasy. 2 years. That's all they last. They either get hurt or scare themselves into giving it up. Hats off to anyone that can last more than 2 years doing that kind of thing. They are at the far end of the bell curve if they make it that far.

I'd like to see that Calatrava bridge turn into a roach motel for them. The police could even stretch a chain in place across the aprons of the bridge once they get out on it. Throw them in jail till tuesday.

Funny part is the City of Dallas went an built a strip for cars and motorcycles to do their drag racing and stunts. They wouldnt use it. That tells me they revel in putting others at risk

funny you mention this...the 1st year it happened a truck driver mentioned, if there weren't so many cars stopped on highway in front of him, he would have done just that.

I never owned one but used to ride bikes. Part of me would love to have a Harley but I married an XRAY Tech long ago and its just not going to ever happen. She's seen the effects too often of bike crashes (then my brother goes and permanently disfigures himself on his Harley the FIRST day he gets it). Not even going to fight that fight - I an't dumb. I fought the battle and won over putting dead things in the den, didn't even try on a bike :)

DSO can enforce traffic county wide. DART region wide. DPD still handles traffic in its regions and will the agency to go after these guys.

Matter of fact I think the police have a "bring it on" attitude this year. The police are waiting on the overpasses for them. Good for them!

The motorcyclists are chicken if they back out now and will lose face if they don't go through with it. All talk, no action. If they chicken out now and use a tollroad in Plano, that does not count. I dare them to go to Central or the MHH Bridge. Dare 'em.

Yes, I was coming back north on US 75 today at about 4 and DPD was all over the place. One or two cars on nearly every overpass, and two or three pairs on the northbound shoulders. Of course they all were sitting with their overhead light turned on, so all the normal fools on the road slowed down and make it quite annoying. There's no need for overheads, they would be noticed and would deter any riders trying to pull shenanigans, without taking away 10% of the roadway capacit due to the flashey lights. That's the kind of "show 'em we're out there" stuff that is unnecessary.

Last two years it has been Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend around 5-6pm.

Can and will, could or would. Just because they can/could doesnt mean they will/would. There have been agreements in the past between DPD and DCSO about patrol and traffic. They continue today.


The thing is until this year DCSO didnt come north of I30. With DART PD catching hell for the lack of security at the various bus, LRV, and TRE stations, they have relinquished theirduties of HOV enforcement to DCSO. Dallas PD has essentially given all the traffic duties on the highways in Dallas to DCSO. Yes, Dallas PD and DART PD can still do traffic, they just dont.

Reading the comments on these guy's blog it appears one of their favorite activities is running from and outrunning LE. The recent killing of APD officer Jaime Padron was by a rice burner riding punk
who bragged how many times he'd out run LE, claiming that was his normal practice and he'd never been caught.

That's why I love seeing those guys crash. I've seen a couple take a dive in real life after doing some stupid shit and all I did was laugh and continue on with my day. Fuck em.
