Yugo M92 Krink build?
Was thinking of doing a New York legal M92 build but have a some questions:
1. What is the length needed to add to the barrel to make it over 16"? I like the PBS-1 suppressor and was thinking to permanently attach a fake one would give the required length.
2. Also, how hard/easy is it to permanently pin a Yugo folding stock? What is the best way to do it?
3. I plan on using a demilled kit so what would you suggest for 922 compliance parts?
4. Any other issues I should be made aware of?
I recently saw this guy do a similar build. It came out great.

Thanks for the link. That is a great looking Krink!
Thanks for the link.
I have a M92 kit also waiting to be built. Its on the back burner right now until I can find someone to do some barrel work for me. I will be using a Bulgy sidefolder that I will welded open.
The one in the link has almost 11" extension. About 1.5" of it is taken away by overlapping with FSB threads and still I got 16.75" overall.
But that is AKSU. The yugos have longer barrels, about 2" longer, so you will have to do you own math.
Yugo stock is the same as Russian, polish, etc. On my AKMS I welded the right outer fork to the stock on the bottom. One light touch with IMG welded.
922 parts you will have receiver, trigger group. If you have us barrel then you are covered otherwise get us made gas piston. Remember, the pinned/welded muzzle attachment becomes a part of the barrel and not constable as a part.

What receiver are you using to build it on? i think if I were fgoing to build a krink I'd have to find a pre '94 at least. It is bad enough not being to SBR these things but not being able to have a proper functioning folder on them too really sucks. I think you could find a pre '94 Maadi or something to use and make some $ back by parting it out.

Is the folder really worth $900 to you?
A preban AK to salvage the receiver plus the kit plus the barrel and you are well over $2k. Add builders fees if you can't do it yourself, finishing and you approach $2.5K. That's one hell of expencive folding AK.
I've never paid more than $550 for a
pre'94 post '89 AK. No one outside of NY really wants them. So sure it is worth it to me vs. building a neutered rifle. Why bother otherwise? Especially when you are
building something that originally came with a folder that required modifications to the receiver anyway. Krink kits are what? over 1k now? Virgin barrel ones are at least 6-700? Going to the trouble to buy a krink kit , have it built and then welding up the folder is building a sow's ear out of a silk purse.
Keep your eyes open for these MAK 90s too:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=279337772 Last one I bought was $530. I've watched several others sell in the same range too- this one has garnered more attention though. A lot of people don't even know they are out there nor how easy they are to return to an underfolder but the machining is all there done, it is a piece of cake to restore.
Another rare one to keep your eyes open for are the B west saigas, it would be a great donor for a preban AK103 build. Sure you'd lack dimples but aside from that they are cool. This one is a bit too much but they are out there and most sellers don't distinguish between them and the newer imports.

Same could be asked about a NY legal 16" Krink, why bother? Seems like a lot of money for what is basically an AK with no sight radius.

When you have all the other variations down-why not? You could always SBR it when you move out of NYS anyway. Who knows how much AKSU kits will be by then? Who says all these have to be practical anyway?they are still cool.
Hmm, what MPi suggests is very interesting. I have my M92 kit and am just waiting to figure out just what I want to do. Have a fake PBS-5 can as well but it's not really doing it for me. Going to look for a gunsmith or someone to make me a PBS-1 if possible.
But... The idea of getting a "cheap" preban AK to use the receiver on this build seems very entising. I'm not big on shooting folded but it seems like a sin to permanently weld a folding stock open.
I do have a Mitchell M70 and it not even scarred as an "M90" but I woild never sacrifice her.
PS - if anyone knows a guy would can put me in touch with a gunsmith/machinist would can turn a fake PBS-1, I would appreciate it.
