I like it. It looks alot better than the other ones i've seen. here is another question. I've read on other posts here that putting a front pistol grip on a draco turns it into a rifle or whatever. But what about magpuls angled fore grip? same thing or not? |

Would this work for the draco? Or is it too cheap?

Here's my Draco C. She's wearing Bulgarian AK74 handguards. (Need to refinish them when weather gets warmer.) The pistol grip is a Egro AK Classic.

what kind of wood stains are those to give that russian reddish-plum colors ? I've only tried the birchwood stain which gives more of a dark brown color. Then how do you get it to be so shiny or laminated ? So far, I know know with birchwood kit, but the wax comes off with cleaning.

No pics so far, but I'm refinishing my ugly factory Draco handguards. Had to do some light sanding because they were rough. Stained them with a home made alcohol based wood stain/dye. They're a LOT better match for the red bakelite grip.
7 coats of boiled linseed oil and I'm nowhere near finished. Haven't decided if I'll just use linseed, or if I'll use several coats of tung or teak oil after the linseed. These handguards sure are thirsty. They soak up oil nearly as fast as I apply it. The main reason I started with linseed is because it's easier than just using tung. I don't have to let it dry for a day before applying another coat, and I don't have to use 0000 steel wool between each application. I'll probably end up with 15-20 coats of oil before it's done. I wish I had a bucket full of tung oil/turpentine so I could just dunk them in and let them absorb all they can. I could pull them out after a day and let the oil dry for a week or so. Then, I could hit them with 000 steel wool before giving them a final oil coat. Sure would be easier and less mess. Not to mention complete penetration of the wood by the oil. Even better would be a vacuum chamber filled halfway with oil. I could put the pieces in, one at a time, and pull a vacuum on it. Once it stops bubbling, release the vacuum, and voila, excellent penetration. Maybe I need to build some vacuum chambers for oil and resin impregnation. |

I have a question. I pick up my draco tomorrow and wanna change the furniture. Does kvar handguards drop right in or do they have to be modified in any way? I know the gas tube is shortened but don't know if that affects mounting of the handguard.

I don't know if he has any more, but here is the last listing he had on GB: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=241573086 The mag is just a TAPCO 20rd, blocked to hold 10rds (I HATE CALIFORNIA). |

ATF has said (at least twice) that the Draco with the K-VAR bullpup kit (less the stock piece) remains a pistol, not a rifle, not an AOW. A standard Draco with a forward grip (second pistol grip) would be an AOW.
Regarding the "stock", it never had a stock, does not now have a stock and is not designed to accept a stock. A rifle is "A firearm with a rifled bore, designed to be fired from the shoulder." There are no laws regulating how you fire a pistol, so you can fire it any way you want... Originally Posted By HiddenInCloset:
