Saw this pic and thought I would share, part of the team that found the 4 kids lost in Rainforest for 40 days.

So we can expect to get some more AR kits?

I'd love to have an Indumil kit, but I doubt it.

I was in the Amazon in November, and the Colombian Army patrol we came across had ARMs with plastic AR handguards and the Indumil stock shown.

So I take it the defining feature for an ARM is the bipod gasblock?

Is it possible to fold the bipod back with the AR handguard, or do they just snap it on when needed since it's a quick disconnect?

If so, could a SAR kit with a bipod gasblock be considered a ARM?

AR/ARM models have different gas piston/piston tube lengths vs SAR. Putting an ARM gas block on a SAR wouldn't make it an ARM in that case.

I've never seen a bipod in the Colombian Army, and if they have the QD ones, they definitely are not packing and humping an extra pound+ of steel in their rucks.

Also- Colombia has all terrain including glaciers, mountains, and deserts, but in the true "selva"/ jungle (not "bosque tropical"/ tropical rainforest) you could pop down your bipod legs and go prone... and be completely behind huge tree roots, deadfall, thick vegetation, etc...

I would guess that they pulled a Tito when they were setting up Indumil like.... "Why are there so many types of gas blocks? AR with a bayonet lug, SAR without, ARM with bipod mounts with or without a bayonet lug..."

OP, you do know that the FARC-D guerrillas in your photo are communist guerrillas. FARC = Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, and the "D" doesn't stand for "dissident", it stands for the "drug dealers" that broke the peace agreements the FARC made in order to continue slinging dope.

They come up for sale from time to time, but you have to be ready to pounce on them since they're desirable for collectors.

Is that Colombian stock made from polymer over a metal skeleton?  How much lighter is it than the original stock?

Would this be a good thread for all the Haiti Galils?
