The second picture can be found as a poster in Czechpoint's spare parts store. http://www.czechpoint-usa.com/products/spare-parts-and-accessories/vz-58-parts-and-accessories/vz58-military-training-poster/ Interesting, someone else calling it a linear hammer. The first time I really got a look at the internal components I thought it didn't really qualify as a striker and thought linear hammer was a better term. Guess I'm not alone. |

DOn't know if I should do a straight or factory angle mount though. I'm using the straight version, and it's a little high, I have to crunch my face down just a bit to get a good picture through the sights. Not a big deal, but if I were to do it all over I'd go with the angled version. If the foam pad wasn't on it it would probably be fine, but I didn't want to remove that. The stock works great, I decided on it since I wanted something that resembled the factory folder. It came with the folder when I bought it, but the stock was WAY too short for me. It started as an Ace ultralight with a 1/2" buttpad, but that ended up being too long since it was combined with the Ace folder mechanism and the receiver adapter. I replaced the tube with Ace's pistol version and that was just a hair too short. So, I replaced the buttpad with the 1" version and that came out perfect. The longer tube is just an A2 buffer tube, so I set that aside as a spare. It would have been nice to have just bought the Ace pistol kit and added the buttstock piece that fits on the end. I called Ace and requested such, but they won't sell it that way, or even the buttstock piece separately, as they are worried that people will use it to illegally convert AR pistols to SBR's. THIS is the ultralight I used first, and THIS is the pad I added to the shorter tube. I believe Magpul sells a smooth pistol length tube separately (that's used with the UBR stock), and Ace has an Entry version of their Ultralight. It was too late to return the full length Ultralight and get the entry by the time I installed it. HERE is the entry version. |

I will also be adding an optic. Maybe one of the receiver mount varieties. Do you think the straight stock would be preferable in that case?

You do have to dig in a little, but the foam pad is comfortable and you can adjust height with the StormWerks adapter. Older setup Ultralight Entry with straight adapter Older setup with factory angle adapter will bring it a little lower |

Looks like a Stormwerks. Several of us in this thread are using it, they work great! Combine it with the Ace folding adapter and you're in business. Stormwerks |

Troy is good people, especially when you can keep him off the race track, building guns. Very nice! How bad is the fireball or is it manageable at 12.5? |

Agree > Very hard to find a better builder.. Yeah he has a pretty fast VW ... With just the muzzle nut it is a fire breather > but thats part of the fun.. Best part is It runs like a champ on any ammo I put in it. Probably one of the best I have fired with super fast target acquisition.

Questions, I am getting my CSA 11.5 carbine soon and want to put a red dot like an aimpoint on it. What is more common place to mount rear or up front? I assume up front is better for an aimpoint but im asking for your help.

Up front is more common. In large part due to the availability and cheaper price of railed front hand guards.
