aren't the steel/aluminum mounts a little bit more likely to hold themselves onto your weapon that plastic zip ties?  I understand having a safety measure, but the secondary safety measure is much weaker than the initial mount...

I have had my OTAL come loose after a day of shooting.  I almost lost a Surefire while I was in the Army. redundant safety measures are always better than a single safety measure. Always remember the difference between a professional and an amature is that the amature will except risk as the norm where the professional will seek to eliminate it entirelly.

Your crazy if you think those zip ties are weak I have seen zip ties hold shit up or on that would amaze you.  Like a few zip ties holding up the tent section of a M577 in a hellish sand storm.

They are rated at like 110 pounds to 200 pounds are heat resistant and low profile.  Soldiers know about the usefulnes of zip ties.

I never used zipties on my rifle when I was in the Marines, but then again, I didn't have an m4 with gear hanging off of it either.  However 100mph tape was pretty standard an a lot of our equipment.

Is this front sight mounted the right way?

The Reason I ask, I had this sight come from the manufacturer with it facing the other way. I don't know that it would make a difference??

Thats the way it came from bushmaster. I wondered about it myself but apparently thats the way it  is designed. Doesn't really bother me.

I checked Bushmasters site and all the photos of this model have the front sight mounted like this

How about a better picture of the rifle?

And I will post a picture (need to upload a new one) before Stickman attacks me

It's a Noveske Krinkov flash hider. They're supposed to be great for taming blast and recoil on shorty rifles.. personally I think they look freaking ridiculous, but I appreciate the engineering.
