I am quite sure that if I were wearing body armor and LBE I would want a adjustable stock.
Didn't I see some pics of Marines in Iraq using a adjustable stock on 20" barrels?

For my personal pref, I enjoy the A1 stock on my 20"

The middle gun is a 20" upper on a lower with a 6 pos tele stock.  While I like the A2 stock, the tele stock looks evil and grants a shorter pull.

Set this up just for kicks. If anything the cheek weld is better with a Magpul than an A2. The length of pull on an A2 doesn't work for me even in a T-shirt. Add a jacket and shoulder straps from a backpack and its WAY too long.

Lumpy...The reality of 99% of the people on this board are buying their weapons and building their weapons for the cool factor only. Only a small % will put their rifles and selves in harms way. Maybe they do have a function. I don't have to like the way they look.

And FNG you are an asshole. I didn't insult you (until now). so don't insult me. I was voicing my opinion and if you don't like it then go F#*K off.

Geez....Another internet badass...

DPMS 20"HBAR, compensator,Harris bipod,Panther target grip(palm shelf) 2.5-10X mildot scope,JT reduced power springs, AND OF COURSE RRA 6pos "go-go-gadget" stock. No complaints whatsoever.(waiting on getting the snap-on cheekpiece for that stock though.)

I'm with you somewhat, but it sure does look cool with a Dissy type setup.  Of course the Beta mag helps in this particular pic:

My contribution:

I put the Magpul on specifically so I could adjust the length of pull to exactly where I wanted it and lock it down, but if my wife wants to shoot it, she can adjust it to her liking

I hadn't seen this thread yet, but I was wondering the same thing about a collapsible stock on a 20" rifle.  I decided to give it a try.  My gun has a 20" Colt a2 profile barrel with a2 flashhider on a flattop t-numbered upper receiver.  The upper has an m5 ras with vert grip and panels.  I have an aimpoint comp ml2 with arms mount placed above the vert grip.  I have an arms #40 buis on the gun.  I am using a crane type stock with a rra 9mm heavy buffer.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it doesn't feel unbalanced at all.  I will try to post pics when I get a chance.

It just cracks me up how some members here are so critical about other peoples stuff or ideas. And then the arguing goes back and forth.
Too many "Legends In Their Own Minds". You know who you are.

I like the collapsible stock on the 20". It just makes it a more all-around weapon.  You have the better ballistics/sight radius, with an adjustable pull. Makes it better for wearing gear, and room to room fighting.

here's my colt 20" with a ace socom m4 stock, it's 6x stronger than a A2 stock, it has a meat tenderizer on the end so I can beat people with it, I like the look and now I can turn it around in my truck, it's very functional and whether other people like it, I don't really care

How about a 24".
Adjustable LOP, very important, plus a better cheekweld than the stock A2.

I have a BravoCo 6.8SPC A4 upper coming in for my 13yr old daughter.  Going with OD furniture.
Thanx for the pic........da-da-damn, I believe I am more excited than she is.  She has gone Bambi bashing with me for the last two seasons.........now, she wants to bring 'em home.

Ah what the hell. Why not just bring back the A1 stock? There were no complaints about it that I can remember, maybe with the buttplate being an exception.

Tell you guys what. Take the material used to build an A2 stock. Make an A1 stock out of it, and then slap on an A2 buttplate w/trapdoor. THAT is an improvement, right there.

That said, I like the A2 stock, even for my 5'9" frame.

Update:  I got to hit the range today.  I am very pleased how smoothly this gun shot.  The combination of the longer barrel and the 9mm buffer in the collapsible stock made followup shots very smooth.  Today was a good day.

I will be putting an adjustable stock on my 20" rifle as soon as I sell my Vltor A2 Clubfoot. Off the bench or standing, it was fine. When I went prone, it seemed a little too long to get a good eye relief and cheekweld. I'm looking at the ACE M-4.

I can't for the life of me get a decent pic of it, but the addition of a Magpul stock to my 20" Bushmaster (w/ a new Vortex FH too!) feels absolutely wonderful.

I've pinned the travel of the Magpul to match the eye relief of the rifle's TA-31 ACOG at any position, so I'm good to go no matter how much clothing I'm wearing  - a real plus here in temperate Wisconsin.

if i bought a stag lower with a tele stock already on it would i just be able to fit a 20inch upper to it or do i need a new buffer?

Glad to see this thread again.

I'm gonna be putting an M.O.S. 20" flattop upper from Bravo Co. on my Superior Arms lower with RRA 6 pos. stock as soon as my gun fund builds up enough to cover the upper and bolt/carrier.

Yep, just pin it on. You just use the buffer that would come in the collapsible.

For improved function, lots of guys (including myself) are running 9mm heavy buffers in the collapsible stocks to aid in function.

Why I have an adjustable stock on an 11 pound rifle.

1.  I have one.
2.  Weighs the same as an A1.
3.  Has same cheek weld as A1.
4.  Fits in summer and winter.
5.  9mm buffer seems to fit in buffer tube.
6.  Can collapse so I didn't need another case to carry it in.
7.  I am not a Ninja and can use what works for me.
8.  I like it.
9.  Can't get to 10 reasons.

Hey MuRDoC, looks good. Now have Vandenburg replace that FSB with a Bayo Lug. He did mine while doing the FH and shaving the barrel.

These are some nice looking rifles and most likely, a configuration that I might pursue.  I like all of the M4s and CARs but to have that extra 4 inches on the barrel and a smoother gas system might just be the ticket.  Thanks.

Blackjack272, Cavalry Arms makes exactly that stock.

I like the A2 stock myself, too, but only if I'm not wearing armor.  With a vest, it sucks.

Actually that would be a C7 stock.  CavArms stocks are made from a different material.  At least as strong as the A2 material though--probably stronger-- and has a bigger compartment too.

IMHO the tele-stocks look a bit unbalanced with a 20" barrel, but I don't think I'd go as far as "ugly".  And it's not as bad when they're extended for "normal" shooting.
