Does anyone make an A1 upper with M4 feedramps, or will I just have to break out the dremel?

Supposedly once CMMG sells out of their current A1 upper receivers, their next batch will have the M4 feed ramps.

Nice barrel Lumpy! Where can I pick up an M4 barrel setup like that?

Glad I found this thread. NICE RIFLES!!! This is EXACTLY what I've had in mind, and why I bought an A1 upper. I think I'm going with a midlength barrel though, although I really like the look of those early M4's. I thought the elastic bands on the mags was an interesting touch. Probably keeps 'em cooler to the touch in the hot sun, as well as giving a good grip and helping to keep sand out of the mag. Mine'll start out with my M14 sling, but I want to make one out of a cargo strap and some 550 cord. Can anyone share any closeups pics of how they tied them off? Seems like a half hitch through the FSB would be enough.

More of an Air Force GAU/M4 hybrid.

I put this together a few years ago,  it was super light.

In the interest of helping you guys get what you want, I have taken it upon myself to help reduce CMMG's stock of non-M4 feed ramped A1 uppers.  This Friday I will be purchasing at least one, maybe two.

I am doing it for the ARfcom children of course...

You can all thank me later!

What is that tape like stuff that I always see wrapped on IDF weapons. It looks to be made out of cloth I would die a happy man if I could find the Tape they use.  It seems to be universal with IDF because I have seen it in a number of different pictures with a variety of different units

My KISS build is basically a flat-top upper with a DCH, and Samson 2-piece FFHG with a 16" M4 barrel. It's not close to the IDF setup, but it's fairly simply in execution.

Lumpy196

Is your Bushy barrel a 16" or is that a 14.5 with the SDI estended A2 FH ?

I've got an early Colt M16A1 upper on the way and found a Bushy 14.5 M4 barrel on the EE that has the mini y....which will be promptly cut off and replaced with the SDI extended A2

Thanks guys.  You made me spend my hard earned money.

I did it.  My new Bushmaster A1/M4 hybrid is in the works.    Should have it very soon.  16" Bushmaster M4 style barrel and a Bushmaster A1/C7 upper receiver.

My Bushmaster lower is ready for it.  I'll have the flattop and the A1/M4 upper for the lower.

I'm going to go through the carbine class with the new A1/M4 upper.

Photos to follow.

Any chances of an updated pic?

You mean something like this?
ETA: RRA stock, cerroforge upper, Bushmaster barrel, Stinger lower, cardinal forge dch.
Barrel, hgs, dch, upper receiver, stock, all bought on the EE.

This may be a stupid newbie question, but before I buy an M4 barrel to go with my A1 upper, can someone tell me more about the vaunted 'M4 feedramp cuts'? I understand what they are, I'm just wondering if it will affect reliablity if i use a standard A1 (Martin Marietta) upper with an M4 barrel, w/o having the cuts. I have basically everything I need except the barrel. I'm pulling the 20" HBAR that lives on the upper soon as I get a barrel and saving it for a SPR project. I will be using a mil-spec 14.4" M4 barrel with long pinned FH. Thanks.

Here's my start

Unmarked Colt M16A1 upper, there are 2 marking that I can't quite make out above and to the right of the port door. ???? something in a box over an upside down triangle.

Have a Bushy M4 barrel on the way and will see what kind of lower I can find this weekend at the fun show.

eta: any suggestions for a replacement aperture for the A1 sight ???
