How do you like the Insight Weapon Sight? |
i like it. i had the oppurtunity to try one out before i bought one. it's everything that the manufacturer state. accuracy and ease of use are right up there with aimpoint and eotechs.

A little change in the furniture. I received some TangoDown products in the mail from a friendly member of this forum. I changed out my CAA Vertical grip and pistol grip w/ the Tango Down and also changed out the rail covers.

Holy top heavy AR-15 Batman...
Does that thing weigh a lot or is it pretty light? Might have to get one for myself.

it doesn't weigh what one might think, it only weighs in at 9 ounces, not heavy at all. handles great. |

It's not anything new and it's not anything I thought up myself. Guys much higher speed than me have been suggesting that I move my vertical foregrip all the way forward since 2003 or 2004. I had tried it several times and it just never "felt right" or was causing me pain due to an injured left shoulder. In late May of last year, I tried moving the vertical foregrip all the way forward and everything finally "clicked". After several years I finally figured out why there were so many advantages to having the vertical foregrip all the way forward. Think of balance and piviot points and maybe the following will make some sense I have found that the magwell hold or having the vertical foregrip toward the delta ring places the center of gravity too far to the rear. Kind of hard to explain this via a written message but here goes: Think of your carbine like a board that is supported at one end (ie. stock in your shoulder). If you wanted the best control over the board when moving it up and down and left to right where would you want to put the support? Would you want it close to the end that is already supported, in the middle, or as close as you can get it to the unsupported end? Obviously you would want to get the second point of support as close to the end of the board that is not being supported as possible. Moving the hand or vertical foregrip as close as you can get it to the unsupported end of the gun (ie. the muzzle) provides the best level of support and also helps you drive and control the gun much better. With the vertical foregrip I'm constantly pushing rearward on the vertical foregrip, thus providing constant rearward pressure into my shoulder. |

I got away from a VFG because I couldn't get used to any position. Never tried it that far forward. For me, the VFG changed the balance of the gun just by the weight of it, I suppose? I reverted back to a regular rifle support hand position far out on the forend. I can pull the gun into my shoulder that way. I guess I couldn't get used to it because I use that style on all my rifles. I have to move my support hand back on the forend to use the light though. It is inconsistent, I suppose, if I have to use two different style grips depending on whether I have to use the light or not. I'll try one out farther. USMC03, Thanks for the input!
