I'm game. I always like to show off my collection. Rather then pull them all out I will just have to use old pics.

My first was a Colt XM177 that I couldn't stand so I got rid of it and had no pics

#2 was an Eagle Arms CAR15

#3 was an Olympic Arms CAR97

#4 was an Olympic Arms custom varmint rig

#5 was a DPMS/Olympic  carbine with AK brake

#6 was a Model 1/Mega shorty carbine

#7 was a Model 1/Mega M4gery

#8 will be anothe M4gery, just don't know what I am going to use yet.

Now for non AR's
This is my prairie dog rig. it is a Savage 12bvss in .223

This is my short range varmint rig, it is a Ruger 10/22T

This is for fun, a Ruger P85

And this is what takes me there

I've seen several AR's with flashlights, vertical foregrips, red-dot scopes, collapsible stocks, mag couplers (all of which spell CQB) and a harris bipod.

Does this seem like  overkill to anyone else, or am I just being way too critical?

I like to call it crap-a-holism.  OTOH, different strokes for different folks.  But I digress, back to the pics!!  Keep em comin'.

You've got me baffled.

You obviously have never owned a quality handgun, otherwise you would never have said something like this.

Thats a horrible assumption.
I know what a quality handgun is; however, their is only so many times a black glock 19 can be posted. Their is a limited amount of carpet configurations, bedsheet designs, and a limited number of lights that can be bolted on a black pistol. Its still a boring pistol picture. It is the product of a factory, and is not as personal as the black rifles that we know *we* can build.

Why is it a boring pistol picture? Why aren't the rifles boring?
1) Many of the rifle pictures are boring, being the same A2 over and over. Nevertheless, many ARs with mods are being posted and in so many configs. We have 9mms, tricked out, normal, spacegun, carbines, ect. Ideas are distributed, new ideas are formed, and we oogle and aaah over the various rifles. We also realize that many of our posters have (or can) built their rifle, then the realization hits us that we can copy it by building it. "I can do that." How many of us select top glock components and then brag about the glock we built? Not many, definatly few (if any) in this thread.

2) While the pistol can be a beutiful (or no nonsense) tool worthy of pictures, please make them few. The pistols we see are largely unmodified factory weapons. They were created in their current configuration by someone in an assembly line or a smith. Not you. We can glamorize our rifles becuase we each know we can build anything we see on this page (barring cost) and that in itself makes the AR15 picture threads more impressive than an thread featuring AK-47s as an example. No knocks to the AK-47ers, I own one myself and I realize many have built them. Kudos. Threadworthy creations.

The threads are for showing off your gear and sharing your ideas as to what the perfect rifle is (if only in your mind). Showing a stock pistol for the 7th time isn't that darn fun. It sucks up bandwith and just ain't that special.

In the scheme of things, rifles are so much more important and usefull than pistols.

Wanna know a secret? I am a pistol man... how ironic huh?

PS: Madphessor, you are absolutely correct. Those are bland pistols.
Since that looks like a RIA replica 1911A1 It receives a score of 5 on a scale of 1-10.
If its the real deal in immaculate condition, raise the score to 8.

The mak seems like it has a story to tell. Seems. Do tell. 5 out of 10

Walther P22.  1 out of 10.

Revolver. meh. Its a revolver. 4 out of 10.

All pistols should be inserted into rifle pictures. Rifles are "the queen of personal weapons". Pistols are their peons and servants.

Just curious if that is the preferred carry method for camo AR's down in AZ? Could you have it locked and loaded seeing as it isn't inside the vehicle? Either way I like it.

This entire post shows me you are narrow minded, un-imaginative, and have a lack of absolutely any creativity whatsoever.
Mods on AR's are more obvious, you have to know what you're looking at to recognize a custom handgun, most of the time.
My idea of a quality handgun is a combination of accuracy reliability and somthing that I can fine tune to fit ME perfectly. That is one of the biggest reasons why I will never own a glock and also why I don't consider a glock to be quality. And so, I still question wether you know what a quality handgun is.

The biggest reasons I dont want to look at glock (or 1911s) is because I dont consider your run of the mil factory pistol is worthwhile to look at. Thats the bottom line. How you deemed I dont know what a quality pistol is is beyond me. Yes, I know that pistols don't show their mods as well as a AR15. Yes, I know that some of those pistols may be heavily modified... point being, its on the inside. I can't see it. Tell me about it. Did you do it? A smith? Is it one of a kind? Hows it shoot?

From my lengthy post, you have determined I am "narrow minded, un-imaginative, and have a lack of any creativity whatsoever." Thats a very broad and incorrect assumption. Since their is little use in changing people's somewhat limited view of a person, (particularly a view that they have have accepted after reading my entire post) I will leave your observation where it is.

My argument is quite simple... I think that seeing a factory 1911 over and over again is kinda boring. It may be parked here, stainless their, maybe it has a custom trigger, maybe its a springfield, or a Kimber, ect. Yes, it is a wonderfull peice... If it has history I dont mind hearing the story at all, in fact it enhances the pistol. Seeing a worn glock or 1911 enhances the picture becuase you say "whoah, it looks like it may have been around, whats its story?" Saying that it was built by someone other than you was a harsh critique, as some of those pistols are bound to have mods or somesuch... They just dont touch the class and elegance of such a powerfull and jaw droppingly beautiful weapon such as a Vaquero for example. An O and O tuned Vaq is *the* merger of art, science, and gun. Its design has history, beauty, power, and craftsmanship all rolled into one. Getting your hands on a pistol like that just makes you want to beleive that the peice will last 1000 years. What about glocks? How about a MP5-K? Or a Mac-10? They make more fun pictures, but dont necessarily make a statement of craftsmanship (or history) that a old time revo does. The rifles relfect a much higher ratio of members who have built up their rifle from scratch or have made heavy mods to it than the pistols. Why is this important? Am I a gear freak? No, not at all... I am a person who really digs the fact that somone built a rifle which is unique and completely formed around their needs. They have built what they deem the ultimate rifle, and/or modified it accordingly. They *are*  the smith that built the AR15, and that personal touch is what makes the rifle pictures more fun IMHO. You can build that. *YOU* can build that. Combine that with the craftsmanship that they built it with (as we who take the time to build such things also take the time to make sure everything is in perfect alignment, ect well, generally... ) and the moded rifles in the pictures become more interesting than almost any other gun type in this thread.

History also plays into a big part of my opinion, but Im not going to write anymore on it other than this. What weapon will you run to when your way of life (both immediate and future) is in perril?
Yea, me too.

ALLL IMHO

I am just having fun with you guys, but brewsky101 called me on it, so I had to deliver why I think what I think. No harsh feelings.

Madprofessor, I hope I didnt step on your toes. I was just having fun.

Again, no harsh feelings to anyone who loves to see the same thing over and over.

My ultra heavy, workout carbine.  V-match 16" with heavy barrell, Heavy FF tube (with paracord wrap).  I don't know exactly how much it weighs, but I'm thinking 10+ lbs. loaded.  On the plus side, most of that weight is forward, so as long as you keep shooting it cancels out.
