I recently received a BCG that I purchased from RTB. It was advertised as being manufactured by AO Precision. Has anyone ever seen a bolt marked with an asterisk(?) or know why it is so marked? Thanks.

Not page 2 yet, but it might mean it's a blem. See the crescents next to the lugs to the right of the asterisk? Somebody goofed their CNC Z offset when making the chamfer on the lugs.

Check under the extractor... it might be FN, made by AO if it has "3S697" ....is FN's CAGE code
And FWIW, AO bolts have used a very similar HPT/MPI marking like yours... as for the asterisk, I do not know.

I believe AO Precision makes the BCGs for FN. OP, I think we can confirm it's an AO Precision BCG so I'd maybe reach out to them about the asterisk. |
