[Last Edit: TrailSlayer1981]
This is a 601 clone i finished recently.
H&R receivers
Colt stock, buffer tube, rollpinless buffer, and grip.  Its not a skinny 601 type grip.
Handguard is Brownells retro brown.
Painted and clearcoated furniture with Moeller Zinc Phosphate.
BCG is Brownells as well as the 1/7 twist barrel
I did file off flashing on FSB but i do plan to remove it and machine it down.
Modded bolt catch myself.
I recountoured upper.  Was a lot of work.  Painted it with Alumahyde dark park.  Was way too light.  I stained it black over it and buffed it down to current look.
I may refinish upper...
Small parts from ar15sport, awesome company
The flat slip ring on the brownells barrel was more like silver.
I swapped it out for a LuthAr one as well as CH.
Took it out to sight in.
Shoots really well.
One note, its a top loader with a perm fixed 10 round mag...
Oh and some bonus pics of my GUU-5P clone
Its a newer colt carbine lower with a SoCom barrel
P/W with extended a2, maglocked.............

Very nice! Mine is just an afternoon of free time away from being assembled.

Similar parts list don to the Brown Brownells stocks painted with Moeller Zinc Phosphate. I did use a 1/12 barrel though.

Good note about the slip ring. I'll have to see if I have another less shiny one. I could Moly coat it Colt Flat Gray Black at least.

Mine isn't work though. At least not yet...

It looks incredible!!  I just got my 601 reweld back this week and I think I’m gonna do the exact same thing you did with the buttstock and handguards!

That’s not battle worn… it just came from the Puerto Rico police department the rest of the 601 kits came from! Lol

Thanks for all the positive input!
Was thinking i should of got the brownells brown stock and grip as well, but i could always change that part.
The brownells retro grips have hidious reviews.
Note to others.  The Luth-AR split washer is almost twice as thick as a colt split washer.  Dont even bother with one.
I only put 40 rounds down it.
Weird ammo ive never seen tbh
Winchester 5.56 white box 62 grain, non green tip.
With this 1/7 twist i tried it.  Good stuff!!!
I got hailed on range day so cut it short.
25yard sight in and 50 yard afterwards.
Here  is my 50 yard target.
Best group in the middle with one flyer.  Front sight is burried a little and rear sight is was now 5 clicks or one rotation to left.
Good enough.... FSB appears ok....
Note i did make a couple sight adjustments while on this target

But it's not.  It is all faked.  And I never seen the appeal of that.

It's the firearm equivalent of a fake Rolex.

It was in exactly zero "battles"

Gtfo of here man. If it doesnt tickle your fancy, cool. However, that’s not really a reason to shit on someone's build. You could say that about any semi auto version / clone of an originally fully-automatic rifle

People are often into retro because of the patina they have. You don’t get that with new production parts. People are paying $1500 for 601 barrels, $2,500 for handguards, etc… that’s not feasible for everyone

Luth-AR is not the only ones selling them. I ordered a few from a couple different places last year before Luth-AR started flooding the market and they were them super thick washers too. The originals were like half as thick. https://www.wbparts.com/rfq/1005-00-992-7280.html

Did you find  better one? AR15Sport has been out of the originals. I think mine are probably the Luth ones.

Are the ones at FA any better?  Pics make them look correct...  are they phosphated and the correct thickness?

Hmm, that's probably the issue with my GUU-5A. Bayonet sits slightly too far back. And that's a a pin and weld dammit.

I just ordered THESE ones from Ar15sport a few days ago. It says they're the same as originals, so hopefully so. Haven't gotten them yet, but they're in the mail.

I can swap out the one I just did on my Hydra-Matic build, and wait to finish my 601. I'm kind of screwed on my GUU-5/P though since its pinned and welded. Which I had realized/learned about them being too thick earlier!

Great looking rifle OP.

I'd love to do the battlefield thing on one of mine, but always figured I'd mess it up.

Why the top load, state restriction?

Forgot to comment, great looking job.

How about posting the details on how you got it to look like it does.

I'd like to try it on mine.

Very Nice!!!
I used a file or 2 and dry sponges with green scrubby stuff.
Filed all edges in the wear zone, used the file with no handle to cause some random scratches as spots.
And a lot of green scrubby pad on all the rest as needed.
I also used the file to gouge certain areas.
Mighta overdone it a hair, but whatever lol.
I did use h2o2, and salt to oxidize all the small parts.
