The new laser welded XM Linear Comp is available now. Plasma nitrided 17-4 Stainless with Black magnetite finish 67RC case hardened in a 9.5 hour computer controlled heat treating process. The finish is super tough and more corrosion resistant than hard chrome.
Improved flash suppression. These are the best quality retro component possible in a non regulated flash suppressor. The dimensions of these parts are externally based on a set from a genuine XM-177E2 historically issued to MACVSOG in Vietnam.    XM Linear Comp Gen 2 |

Nice. Old buddy of mine has some kind of late 70s/early 80s comp modeled on this pinned and welded and I've always admired the look. I'm glad to have a lot more repro options available now for retro black rifle builds.

The beginnings of a project:
 I’m going to do it as a 12.5” middy FSB, rather than go for a perfect clone. I’m not particularly worried about the pin/weld length because I have SBR lowers, I just like 12.5” guns much more. So it’ll be kind of a “what could have been” sort of gun that looks like a XM177 from a distance or at a quick glance. I’ll be using a polymer CAR stock, also, but with correct receivers, sights, and delta ring. Might use an upgraded trigger, too; haven’t decided yet.
