What is a good zero distance for an 11.3? I was thinking 25, but my buddy told me I should do 50. It's meant to be a work firearm so more than likely 100yds and in, with most possible encounters being under 25.

50………depending on ammo will look something like this.

25yrds aiming center mass shot about an inch low

50 shooting center mass shot will be dead on

100/200 Shooting center mass shot will be an inch high.

300 shooting center mass shot will be dead on

Either 36 yards or 50 yards depending on ammo.
For shorter type barrels I always use a 50 yard zero.

All of my less than 16" barrels are zeroed at 50 and data gathered at 100 for impact point

I have found the 50 yard zero works best for that length barrel.

If it’s for your work then refer to your department SOP. Otherwise it is determined by your ammo, optic height, and optic functionality. KD zeroes are great for range confirmation but real world use should drive it, as well as your practice at UD engagement. Folks don’t stand upright presented like a B27 in reality.

Could be a 35 yard, 57 yard, or 100 yard. Who knows. Define the acceptable radius to do MPBR.

I'd do 50. That's what I generally run. Puts me pretty close out to the distances I shoot on the targets I use. Your needs might be different, but a 50yd zero will work from cqb out to a 300yd coyote. Really all I need

I know 50yds is popular, I ran the #s based mostly on my optic height and MPBR and I think I settled on a 40yd zero.

Run your data through a ballistic calculator (barrel length/load/optics are all factors).

Live fire at a range to confirm.

50 yd zero has worked best for my purposes.

Considering your distances I would recommend the 50 over the 36.  If you had mentioned you might be taking shots to 300 then the 36 zero might be a better option but considering your data points I believe the 50 would be best.

I'm guessing this is an LE patrol rifle? Go 50 yards all day every day as it'll give you the flattest trajectory to 100. 50 yards is the LE standard regardless of load or barrel for a reason. Your max point blank range will likely be shorter than 250 with a 11.3" rifle, but not significantly so.
