Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Looking for input on this 12.5" upper's gas port hole size.

I bought this new and after taking it out of the box, I looked down the barrel and saw what I first thought was some type of lint in a "v" shape hanging from the top of the inside of the barrel.
After running a copper brush down the barrel several times, I noticed the obstruction was gone but I could then clearly see what to me seems to be an over sized, crudely cut gas port hole.
These are the best pics I could get with my cell phone. Thoughts?

What caliber, and is gas port located towards the end of the barrel at FSB location or is this a pistol type gas port barrel, with gas port rearward, and not up at the FSB instead?
