I see DD's price on the RIS2 is getting insane, but if you guys go onto gun.deals with the sku or upc of the item you're looking for, there are new ones for less than $400 before shipping.

Just hoping to contribute.

If you can tolerate used in excellent condition, put up a WTB here in the EE, I've paid an average price of $275.00 for the last 2 I purchased here.

Excellent idea. I've picked up 3 ACOG's under $500 that way.

Just wanted to help the Block2 brethren as I saw a few complaints about the price and wanted to make sure they weren't paying retail.

When I bought my fsp and non-fsp versions 1.5yrs ago, they were like $375.

There is a Black SU-230 currently in the EE. I did find an old thread of a Black SU-230 “in the wild” due to a unit purchase in 2010. Wondering if there is any other knowledge out there.

Nevermind, on a different screen it appears to be faded FDE.

Sorry

The black elcan unit purchase may have been my post.  Air Force TACP and is the optic I used in AFG for 9 months.  I think they might have been SU-269.  There were some pics of black Elcans with some Navy and Marines on a ship.  I posted a Pic in that thread.  Can't access the pics right now

In on 900! Would a gov profile barrel be at all correct for a non fsb build from around 2011? Or were they mostly socom profile by that time? Also, what branches primarily used the non fsb? Sorry if it’s been asked a billion times. Will post pics of my progress thus far here in a few.

Edit for pic- here are some of the pieces I have to work with. (RC not pictured) just need an upper, kac 99051, and a barrel. In the market for a 14.5” if anyones got a lead or has one they want to sell.

Trying to decide which stock to use.

If there were any marked su238, it likely wasn't that many. Eod are the only guys I've ever seen with them and they were m6x marked.

Yes, Govt profile bbl would be correct.  Only DD M4A1 RIS II w/FSB was using the SOCOM bbl in 11'.  We didn't start getting replacement 14.5" SOCOM for low profile gas blocks until 18/19' IIRC.  SF Groups were the primary users of the FSB model.  All others to include SF used the non FSB model.

I was wondering if someone could do a solid and post a picture or two close up on a colt lower right and left side correct for a issued Block II FSP in the wild or correctly done so I can take it to the engraver to finish my clone. I have seen a ton of pictures and looked through hundreds of pages but I am hoping someone has the info that has already done this project. Does it have a key hole forge on the right hand side by the A2 grip or do I have it removed? Thanks.

And here I thought I settled when I used a standard M4 barrel for my FSB build.

I’m probably going to ditch the Magpul stuff. I just need to find some FDE or Taupe covers and a KAC rear sling mount for a SOPMOD stock.

I like the balance of the non-SOCOM profile. People say they can’t tell a difference but I can, especially when you start adding stuff to your rifle and hang a suppressor off the end of it.

No, the mount that came from Sig was okay but it was kind of limited since I wanted to mount a back up RMR at the 12. So I ended up buying a Geissele mount to pair with a Reptila Corp RMR mount.

Probably going to hang on to it since the scope is getting kind of hard to come by since they were contract overruns and I’m not sure at this point if Sig is going to release more. If I decide to sell the scope down the road the mount will go with it since it was supposedly designed as a kit. Honestly I was less than impressed with the mount. It is light weight, I believe lighter than the Geissele mount that I am currently using, but the bolts being titanium were easy to gall when trying to torque it down, I know this because I did it to one of the bolts when removing the set up from a rifle when I was switching to the Geissele mount.

*If anyone has a line on Taupe or FDE KAC rail covers I need some. The tan ones currently offered by KAC are more of a sand color.

Not a block II but cool AF anyways.

Have I no, by the time Colt Cage uppers would have been coming into the system those guns were being replaced by the URGI.  It is possible however.  Had several FN caged coded uppers.

Happen to have any pictures of the FN uppers? There seems to be an endless number of variations, and they aren’t as well documented as Colt uppers because of their scarcity on the civilian market.

The 1-8 is a fairly new optic. I have it on my personal clone Block II as a placeholder till I get a better optic. It serves my needs for now and was affordable in my current living conditions. If I had the spare 2500 I'd have an atacr on my rifle. I have my rifle set up to fight just as I would if I were still in group.

Not retaining zero. It wasn’t shifting much, but enough that at 300m and out I was missing c zone sized steel. I thought it was ammunition related at first until it did it multiple times.

And when I was rezeroing following those occasions, the elevation lock was stuck. And I mean STUCK. I’m not sure what the exact issue is stemming from, but this is one of my grab and go rifles that I carry with me daily, so it put a bad taste in my mouth.

To clarify, this isn’t a surplus or old unit either. I bought it brand new from Eurooptic and haven’t put a ton of rounds through it - maybe 1k or so max. The Elcan is definitely a vibe, I love the reticle and the look of it on the Block II. Definitely a bummer.
