What FN BCGs were used in Block 2 rebuilds? Cage code? FN, F marked?

I've used F and Cage Code.  Just depends on what the armorer had in the system.

@Combat_Diver

Ever come across any TC 1B1B6 stamped carriers with F stamped bolts?

Sure looks like it.

I have 2 that I bought maybe 7 years ago. TC CAGE on carrier/MPF marked bolts.

Come to think of it, they may have come from TBA. Can't remember .

Normally don't look at the BCG markings during maintenance.  However, I do have 1B1B6 is spare parts and have seen them occasionally in the past.  Almost all my bolts are either Colt or FN.  So yes to your question.

Thank you for the info. Any idea when the cage code carriers came into existence?

Looks like 2001-2011 for DoD contract info.

ETA: And I believe that is for carriers only, no bolts.

Every one that I've seen has had an FN bolt in it.

Good to know. Any idea where the F marked carriers/bcgs fall in as far as time frames?

MPF bolt heads have been used in M4s since at least 1999, maybe even earlier.

1988 FN secured their first DoD contract for M16A2s.

CD could tell you more than I regarding those specifics.

Fixed.

Gotcha. I’m mainly looking at the time frame of the Mueller stuff being used which I believe started somewhere in the mid 2010s.

You did a typo.  FNs first contract for M16A2s were in 1988.  In 1990 we equipped the New Kuwaiti Army with them.  I remember looking at near new FN M16A2s in early Mar 91' right after the seize fire went into effect.  I was in Kuwait City with 5th SFGA.

Safe to say FN bcg and bolts a long with 1b1b6 were being used with Mueller receivers and such?

Yes, Only when guns are first issued from Colt or FN.  After that every part except lower (lowers too but rarely) get replaced as they are wear items.  Any Governmental parts supplier can be found into or on any variation of M16/M4.

You ever see an original M1 Carbine?  Remember Underwood produced the most parts (35) and that was about 70%.  Rest of the gun was from other suppliers.

Block II mostly done.

Anyone seen risers for the Eotech in use? I'll probably get one for this If I don't go LPVO. Just curious what's best/being used in the wild.

Anyway pic thread:

CD, who would have been supplying replacement M16 barrels around 2015 or so? Just Colt and FN or would others have been in the mix? Trying to piece together the Block II DMR that used a donor M16 barrel.

Normally don't work on M16s as SOF has all been M4s since the mid 90s.  The few that I have seen were FN barrels.  Both rifle ramp extensions and either F marked FSB (M16A4) or not (M16A2).  Two separate NSNs.

I've got 97% of a mostly faithful Block 2 sitting in a parts box here. 6920 Property marked SOCOM, Vltor FDE stock, HK V7 grip, KAC sling mounts, the whole jam. Are there any ITW pics of these things wearing Leupold Mk5s yet? Given the awesome eyebox and reasonable size/weight that seems to be the most tailored optic option.

I accidentally posted this in the block 1 forum… oops…

Alright, so quick opinion question -

So I’m running a KAC 300m “lollipop” rear sight on my Block 2 non-fsb.

I put on a raptor ambi handle, cuz I’m a wacky lefty, but I’m noticing the sight’s adjustment knob is kinda in the way sometime.

So the question is, do I swap it out for a small knob KAC adjustable 300-600 rear sight?

Like is that clone ok? Or do I just maybe move the rear sight up a notch or 2 cause I like the look, weight, and simplicity?

Thoughts?

Is the KAC 300m your only sight?  Its designed to be more of a fixed sight.  Adjustments only for zero.  If you want to run irons as a primary sight, then I'll suggest the MaTech BUIS.

It’s not my primary sight; I run a t2/g33 combo on it.

The buis is just in case. With the raptor and that big ass knob, it’s a bit tight there in a quick situation.

The reality is that most of the time I’m charging with my left hand anyways but I’d like to take advantage of the ambi if need be.

I’ve always like the KAC 300-600 adjustability but I honestly don’t know if I’d ever use it; I’m just looking at the fact that it’s got a smaller knob.

T2 / G33 combo? I'd just run it without BUIS at all.

Holy crap, I’ve never seen that one before! I like that!
Too bad you can’t just swap out the knob easily.

The KAC micro is probably the way to go.
I’ve seen them in the EE and shows for about $100 but anyone have a lead on a new/like new one on the cheap that’s not an air soft copy?
There’s just so much counterfeit stuff out there anymore it’s crazy.

The usmc ones are probably the cheapest and not counterfeit. Kac used to say they were stolen, but that's bs as you could purchase a crap load of them from drmo sales from the government.

Keeping it theme with the thread, a micro would only be correct for MARSOC builds. A USMC marked one of course.

I get that, but something as small as the markings on a sight might not matter to some if it saves 100.00.

Those details do matter to some, which is why they come here. It's up to them to decide if they want the correct letters or want to save 100 bucks

If anyone is interested, I think I am going to out my gen iii razor 1-10 up for trade or sale. I think I much prefer my atacr in fde to it and think I want to get another one and throw it on my Block 2. I can include a 1.54 condition 1 mount in fde. It's only been on one range trip, but I dint have the box and paperwork.
