Hello
I'm a french, driving a 2007 Mustang and having an issue with my MP15.
After the casing ejection, the taking of the next one in the magazine ends up like in the photo.

Any idea what could be the cause, it happens often, the magazine is a Pmag 10 and it's a recent one ?

Thanks for any help.
best regards
Marc

Very first step is to try and eliminate THAT magazine as the culprit, by trying other magazines.

Does it function properly without the brass catcher?

Thank you very much for your answers :)
I tried another magazine, and get rid of the brass catcher but it's the same.
I cleaned and lubricated the rifle, still same
I did reload my ammunition, I'll try some new ammunition next week and check the gaz block also.

and ... I won't surrender :p

If you've already tested with a known good magazine you can test if the rifle is getting enough gas by loading one round in the magazine and firing, if the bolt isn't locking open it's likely undergassed. Culprit would have to be the gas block, gas tube or BCG.

ETA: and be sure to test with good factory ammo. it could just be your reloads.

-  Ensure your rifle is very clean and well lubricated
-  Ensure your gas block is fully seated and installed correctly
-  Take off the brass catcher; those will easily cause malfunctions
-  Try a different magazine
-  Try different ammunition

My money is on the reloads.  Try the rifle with factory loaded ammunition.  It is very possible your reloads are underpowered and are not giving the gas system enough power to work.  This makes sense after looking at the photo...it is short stroking (not enough gas to cycle the bolt).

What is your reload recipe?

Thank you very much.
I'll check that, next week when practicing, I can't try in my backyard even with a suppressor, that a ticket to prison here :p

I already checked the gas block and gas tube, disassembly and cleaning done, they looked fine to me.

btw : my solvent and lub are "armistol" are they good?

I checked the cleaning forum, but most don't ship to France.
On the french Amazon I've got:

BreakFree CLP4F
MATPRO yellow (this one looks like a french product, not sure you eared about it) no ref to CLP
Ambro-Sol - OL106 , Italian no ref to CLP
Breakthrough Clean Battle Born HP Pro Oil no ref to CLP
Ballistol GunCer no ref to CLP

and that's all :/

which one would be the best ?

Hi
I totally cleaned the rifle, I made some tests, the conclusion is that my reloaded ammunition lacked power, to validate that, I'll add more powder for my next batch :p
Thank you for your support
regards

If the bolt is locking to the rear on the last round, and you've ruled out it being undergassed, I've fixed this issue in the past by adding a heavier buffer.

It can take a minute to diagnose because there's several causes.
