I heard 2 is one and 1 is none… did I do it wrong? Lol

Even so, tip to butt is still <36” with the can, and the arisaka parts make it fit like a glove once adjusted to me.

I felt the exact same way until I caved and tried one out. I think everyone knows what they do and do not excel at, but I found myself working around/fighting the optic more than enjoying it. It made my x24 Nightforce feel downright generous to work with.

Just my 2c but modern LPVOs make ACOGs and Elcans largely redundant. I certainly get the vibe though. Worth trying out to see how you like it.

Ah see, ultimately I know you're right. I wanna try one but don't wanna spend the money to find out I hate it. Probably just scoop another NX8.

As much as I love the ACOG (TA31F-G to be exact) I’m holding off to get my first NX8 1-8

@RTUtah I thought the same thing after first looking through an Acog like 15 years ago. Got one this year. Clarity was amazing but it was so different and so annoying compared to what I was used to I sold it in a month. LPVO tech, to me, is better. PLUS in my case I have more than a decade behind one, so it's natural, where the ACOG was totally different way of doing things.

Wish I could borrow one to see if I like it, but ultimately I know not to stray from the NF family. NX8 is the best LPVO for my money.

4th 11.3"/Medium RAS is about to go down

Sub $500 MR Optic shoot out. Gotta be daylight bright red dot. What's the go to? I've always loved the Steiner. Thinking of the pst 1-6 as the reticle is better than the P3TR. Am I missing anything else in this price point. I don't wanna drop NX8 money on an optic this time.

I continue to think the Steiner is in a class of its own at comfortably sub $1k. True daylight brightness, extensive track record, lightweight, glass that punches well above its weight.

Just avoid whatever that insane new reticle is. It's as if Steiner let a 14YO develop a reticle.

ETA took the newest mini out this evening to sight in the scope and laser. Had a gd squib, thankfully it barely kissed the rifling before coming to a stop. Sigh.

Delta stryker is like a 6x p4xi that weighs the same. Daylight bright, sub 1k

You might feel like giving primary arms Nova a try. Also daylight bright.

I have a PA Nova, 3 P4Xi’s, and a PST II. The only thing they all have in common is a daylight bright center dot. The Nova glass, while not bad for the price, is nowhere near the Steiner or Vortex. It does give you the extra 2x magnification of the PST with weight similar to the Steiner, but the optical quality isn’t close. I’d trade my PST for another Steiner. The PST is just long, (relatively) heavy and the zoom ring is ridiculously tight.

That said, I wouldn’t pay >$600 for a P4Xi. At that point I’d be looking at the Stryker.

Yea while I've had a few p4xi's over the years I currently do not have one. I did get one and put it on my dad's recce. I might go snag it and take it to the range and give it another go. The only thing that's making me look at the pst is the mil based reticle. It lets me have holds for further vs the bdc lines on the p4xi.

Give the leupold MK3HD a try.  It’s a 1.5-4x and the dot is daylight bright in all but the brightest environments.  I have no problem picking up the dot in noon sun here in Texas during the summer.  It’s a nice small package also.

While it doesn't have any adhesive, I've had the McNett wraps become gummy and leave a residue of some sort when used on pistol grips/VFGs. A scope may be different as it's not a gripping surface and doesn't get sweat/oil and dirt like a grip would.

I actually ended up getting Utah's Larue barrel off him since he switched to the 11.5"/URX2 setup. 11.1" barrel. The BA 11.3" and the cob just had too much gap. Hopefully go shoot it over the holiday week. I wanna try out a 1.93" Larue since it's not a prone rifle and I did really like 1.93 for a red dot.

I switched my MRE build to a Larue riser/ring combo so I’ve got an unused 30mm 1.93 Larue SPR mount if you want to try it out and see if you like it.

If you’re interested let me know and I’ll send it to you.

Why use this:

Looking good. Digging the URX Holland vibe it's got. I always liked those Troy rails. Look a lot like a URX4.

Waiting for black Sopmod and a light setup. Probably go arisaka offset mount and an m300

I got tired of waiting forever to get my hands on the URX4 so I opted for the Troy.. I really like the Troy rail, majority hate how the rail locks up, it doesn’t bother me..
