Looking for a tough oversized bolt release that doesn’t cost $60 or more.

Forward Controls
They make 3 versions, center, forward, and rear bias. 2 textures serrated and dimple. I prefer serrated |

I use Spike's enhanced bolt catches, just a little bit over-sized and almost identical to a Seekins, unfortunately they don't offer them anymore, got a closeout deal on some years ago here on the EE for like 7 bucks a piece, they work great and actually come with a roll pin instead of a split pin, little tight, had to fit them by hand which is fine with me.
Seekins still sells theirs, for under 20 bucks I believe, so well within your budget. |

would you consider a bolt on option?
https://www.parkermountainmachine.com/product/pmm-ar15-oversized-bolt-catch-paddle/ Radian's looks like a very solid option at $30.00 too |

It doesn't clear your $60 mark by much, but I agree on FCD. Not only is everything they sell meticulously made, they stand behind it.

Seekins all the way. It's fantastic.

Not a fan of the Geissele.
The majority of mine sport a FCD ABC/R and they are just fantastic and easy to manipulate. Especially if you get into one-handed malfunction clearing drills. Another one that doesn’t suck is the Badger Enhanced Bolt catch. A bit more simplistic but rock solid. I have a Q Balanced Bolt Catch as well. Supposed to reduce premature lock-back. Quality piece but FCD is where it’s at. |

You think you're winning this game? You don't even know the God-damned rules. But don't worry, I'm gonna teach 'em to ya..

I like the standard G.I. bolt release just fine. I also like standard charging handles. I'm weird like that.
If I spend any money for upgrades, it goes into the trigger group. |

I use the P.O.F. bolt catch. Its very similar to the standard design, just with a serrated pad added to the lower portion, and its under $25 most places.
https://www.opticsplanet.com/pof-usa-universal-bolt-catch-black-anodized-00667p.html I'm tempted to try the Geissele, but I'm not sure I really need it as I have large hands and as a lefty I actuate either function of the bolt catch with my trigger finger, and have no trouble reaching it. Smaller (lefty) hands might find the Geissele more advantageous with its rearward extension. The PDQ would be a good option for a right hander, though it requires altering the lower to fit. Alternatively there are custom ambi lowers available if needed. |

Third the maritime. Fcd is nice but I always go back to the maritime.

They are slightly oversized, made from S-7 tool steel, have a black melonite finish, fit every upper I have tried them on and are $40 (are often on sale for $35). I also have FCD bolt catches but give the slight edge to the WC version. The FCD sometimes have fitment issues on some uppers because of the size. I personally would not use the G cast version. Have seen numerous posts of these breaking. |

ABC/R v3 has a lower paddle horizontal extensions that require the bolt catch bosses be close to TDP spec, i.e. radiused, bolt catch pin hole not drilled too high. We can't accommodate every receiver made, so we only make our parts fit TDP spec lowers.
ABC/R has always been underpriced so it's not out of reach, it should be going for close to $90 MSRP, machining a bolt catch out of a solid piece of steel is quite expensive, and the DLC coating on it costs $3.50 per bolt catch, we keep it in production because it's one of our oldest products and we already did the R&D on it (it's on version 3 now), margin is terrible but it doesn't make sense to pull it now. I haven't used the FCD but I do have experience with the G maritime and the Radian. Of those 2 I would go with the Radian because it doesn't block the left side hammer pin hole.

OP seriously you should try the Seekins, if you don't like it, throw it on the EE, hell i'd buy it even though I don't have a current build i'm doing. |

Just an FYI for those that may be interested, the Geissele Maritime catch is on sale right now at both PSA and Primary Arms for $14.99.
Likely just for the holiday weekend. |

I had the giessele on my rifles and took them off and went back to the standard bolt release. The G release made it a little harder to get a good feel on the ambi mag release plus I think pushing on the rear of the maritime release took more effort than hitting the standard release.

I have the G Maritime and like it a lot, and my lower has ambi mag release as well. Maybe its just me, but I have no issue with it.
That being said, I want the Radian to try as well - on paper I might like it more. |
