Came across one in my parts bin. No clue where it came from! Other than the R stamped on the rear pin lug and the serial number in the charging handle channel it looks like any other upper.
Question is., treat it like any other $50 lower or is there value in this due to the markings? I need to know if I’m gonna put my kids through college with it or lucky enough to by my cats a 16 pound bag of kibble.

TIA

Personally, I'd pair it with a Remington 14.5" M4 barrel.... They are very reasonably priced, excellent shooters, and have the clone correctness going for it. To better answer your question, it's not a super rare or expensive upper, nor is it a cheap $50 either. Your probably looking at $100-$150 depending on if you find a buyer wanting to use it for a clone build.

Thank you very much for the info! I'm in no rush to do anything with it, just curious what I had. Thanks again!

If I remember right Remington had an m4 contract with a country around south east Asia. When they folded a lot of the parts got auctioned of and sold for cheap by CDNN and maybe some others. Good parts but I don’t think anything really special unless someone is doing a specific clone.

The Remington socom profile barrels are good shooters but are near the same price as colt barrels now.

Both the 14.5" and 11.5" are good shooters, IME.  $99 from CDNN was an awesome price.
