Without request and under no obligation, PA sent me a prototype of their new prism optic, a 2x ACCS model. I had been critical of the size of the reticle in the 1x Cyclops prism, and Marshall wanted my feedback on this one. I like it.

My eye can quickly find it, with the illumination both on or off.  the mount is very robust and snag free (thank you for not using fat colt knobs!)  I was easily hitting a 12 inch steel plate at 300 yards using Wolf Gold shooting prone off this bag  Here is a zoomed in cell phone pic through the reticle at a stop sign at a measured 200 yards away. The glass is very bright and crisp  It will work in a carry handle, and PA said they will be releasing a carry handle specific riser that will allow you to look through the riser and see the iron sights.  My optic came with three different riser heights. They are aluminum with steel inserts i believe  |

Tagged. I'm quite interested in this, how does it do with both eyes open? Is it similar to the mini ACOGs?
ETA: untagged. Read the other thread, probably should have done that first.

Is the "Gold" line made in China or this optic specifically? I know the QC/durability is supposed to be held to a higher standard either way.

GLX is our mid tier. This particular optic is made in a high quality OEM factory in China that we have been doing business with for 10+ years. It is our design built to LE grade specs. Currently the non prism GLX scopes are made in the Philippines.
This 2X has our latest illumination technology giving true daylight illumination with a etched reticle. Brighter than any prism we test other than dual illumination Acogs. Thanks Marshall |

half the weight, half the size, probably more robust, super clear glass... This is finally a low-power ACOG competitor, at a third of the price. Why do people buy 1.5x and 2x ACOGS over a 1-6x?

Looks like an acog base for mounting options. Nice. I was wondering what the country of origin was being that it was gold product. Thanks again for disclosing that. Thank you for also sharing that the reticle brightness is daylight bright. Very cool. I would assume that it's brighter than the SLx line of prisms? |

I'm just going to guestimate the weight... 1.5 oz on the riser and 2.5 oz on the mount... so 7ish oz weight naked? I think that would be pretty darn respectable!
TA44 standard base: 5.1 oz TA44 low base (less material) I would imagine slightly lighter. I think I'm in for a 300blk reticle in FDE Thank you again Marsh and all for sharing data. *ps* for what its worth, I would have paid an extra $50 to have auto-shutoff and motion activation

Apparently Swampfox is releasing a 3x prism called Trihawk that will be better than the PA prism, they all release around May timeframe. I would hold off on any preordering until more comparisons come out, they aren't offering any benefits to a preorder unless I missed something.

I played with one of these at SHOT, and I was extremely impressed, especially with how flexible the eye relief was. I've mostly switched over to LPVOs, but it's totally a viable option for people who want the simplicity of a fixed prism optic and want to maintain a huge FOV.
Would recommend seeing if you could implement fiber optic illumination in the next generation of these. |
