found one of the new surefire socom series brakes thats patterned off of the a2 brake called an sfa2. its listed as socom series which is required to mount the blast warden. upon taking both items out of package today and mounting in lathe to check if alligned i found that the colt mk18 barrel is good, the sfa2 is good and warden is a no go.

ive tried to mount it straight and its a very sloppy fit and when tightened down sits so off center that you can see its crooked from afar off and it appears that rounds may impact the middle front hole on the blast warden. any advice here how to properly mount this?

although the brake is spinning concentric in lathe it could be undersized on external dimensions so brake shaft size is .905 and inside shaft size of warden that it mates to is a much bigger .915 in case that helps. thanks.

Yes. Warden will also fit those, however, since they are lacking the index pin it will not line up the same each time.

The ID of the warden is supposed to be bigger - as it also fits 7.62 muzzle devices. It’s supposed to line up on the rear taper.

I found your thread because I have an SFA2 that won’t fit for some reason…

Are you using a crush washer instead of shims?
