Yep, I've been doing in since I was 10. Few things are more fun on a hot summer day.

Wow, when did an archery forum start?

I bowfish. Prefer to do it at night. What part of IA are you guys hunting in? I prefer to hunt the Missouri River between Yankton and Sioux City. Stalking grass carp in the catails is huge fun!!!!

I use my bow for deer, but I know I can turn around and use in to bow fish.  How much do you think it would cost to outfit the bow to do that and what can I bow fish for?

I like my AMS Retriever Reel and muzzy arrows.  Give these guys a call, you won't be disappointed in their customer service!!!

Yup.  When the carp are spawning it isn't even sporting.

My son and I spent many, many hours in the boat bowfishing.  It's a great way to get out and have a good time with your son!

I used to go bow fishing all the time...I loved it! Except for the fish slime and stink, I could do without that part.  I started out with a plain old recurve, then a cheap compound, then to a PSE take down and finally ended with a custom made Onieda which was the best bow fishing bow I ever used.  I sold it all when I moved to the city and haven't been since but it sure was fun.

This summer after being out doing some regular fishing in my kayak and seeing a bunch of snakeheads within shooting range and not being able to do anything about it, I got myself the AMS Fish Hawk kit.  First time out I got a 30" carp and some catfish.  On Sunday I got 16 and 18" channel cats and just got done eating the second one a few minutes ago.

When the fish don't want to bite, I'll bite back.

Plenty, carp and gar, usually during turkey season in the middle of the day when it's blazing hot.

In college would bow fish from the Seal Beach pier at night in SoCal. Shots were about 15 - 20 yds to the water and gar, bonito and mullet were attracted to the lights.

I'd give the fish away to folks that were line fishing and not catching anything. Mullet don't take bait very often so we were the only one getting those.

There was another guy that would bring a cross bow and we would take turns in friendly competition. I had an edge on him in accuracy, but he wasn't far off. He was using a 150lb Xbow and I had a Martin Cougar II 80lb set to 77lbs. Hitting a gar at 20yds and judging depth was a challenge, but we could thread an arrow through a 1" diameter gar more times than expected.

Did some carp fishing at Big Bear Lake, but those were left for the raccoons.

Lots of fun bow fishing.
