Considering I got my gen 2 1301 for $1000, yes.

I wonder if the forend will fit on the older 1301s?

Probably will fit. If it does, hopefully they beef up the two tabs for the rear portion.

It's pretty wild to see pricing fluctuate from initial release (Gen 1) to public perception tanking after the Gen 1 "fatal flaw" issue became well known and Beretta barely being able to give away the 1301, then mildly updates it into Gen 2 (with retail pricing near Gen 1 clearance prices, I got my Gen 2s for 850 not including FFL transfer fee) being a sleeper hit, to what it is now.

I love my 1301s, but I don't think it's worth over $1500, even with inflation.

At that price point for nothing more than an upgraded handguard and the pro lifter, that is a pass. If they had opened up the loading port like they did on the UP, maybe. The Gen 2 is still the best version made IMO. The ability to expand the mag tube makes it a lot more versatile. The handguard on this newer version is nice but there are currently really good options on the market right now that make that handguard not all that great and pretty limited. I guess I’ll keep plugging along with my Gen 1 and Gen 2.

Aridus finally has their bolt back in stock. I just ordered one along with the bolt release. Final thing I need to do is have the loading port opened up. I was going to send it to RAS but they don’t do any sort of cerakoting so I’d have to get it refinished after, I’m looking for a company that can do both all in one shot.

Looks like a good way to sell more A300UPs.
I have a 1st gen 1301 COMP.
Once I jammed the action with dummy rounds the first day I had it trying to ghost load, I never had a problem after that.
I used it in 3-gun for a little over two years until the sport died in 2014ish.
I still have it and may look to trade it for an A300.
Fatal flaw = operator error.

The fact they still haven’t opened up the loading port on these is retarded. The handguard and pro lifter are nice additions, not sure on the flat trigger, the normal trigger never bothered me it’s great

Exactly. I want a new one in ODG but I'm pretty sure they'll come out with another down the road that's basically the new 1301 but a A300UP receiver. I'll wait for that one. Until then my A300UP works fine

The 1301 was never a $623 MSRP gun. They just happened to clear that one gen out at ridiculously low prices because they were having trouble moving them. The MSRPs for it have always been on par with lower end A400 prices and with the increase in popularity theres no reason to blow them out at sub $1K prices. My 24" Comp Pro was $1449.

The A300 tactical guns have filled their lower end niche.

Color me shocked that the A300 Patrol came out as a "budget" shotgun but was close in price to the existing 1301 and now we're getting a "new" 1301 at a much higher price.

Great gun but I hope Beretta's competition steps it up soon, the price is getting ridiculous.

I personally kind of like the Remington V3 Tactical, however the issues with Remington have seen to it that it's not as popular nor does it have the aftermarket/development that it should.

I bought the same.  Sad, it's only silver/gray carakote, not like the 870P Marine Magnum w/ nickel and hard chrome.

Not really a bad thing, the electroless nickel finish on those old 870 Marine Magnums is great for corrosion resistance but its durability was dismal. It was very easy to scuff it up and wear it out. Cerakote works just as well plus it is pretty durable when it comes to abrasion resistance. The best part is if you wear out the finish you can easily get it refinished. Good luck finding anyone who does electroless nickel plating anymore. I don’t even think Robar does their finishes anymore.

Is this a thread about the new version or complaining that excellent guns are more expensive now?

LTT 1301- $1850
T2 - $600
CROM - $125
SF 640DF - $250
Esstac cards = $80

Regrets? Nope. Best shotgun I've ever had. Already ran 2500 shells through it so the few hundred more on the shotgun isn't a big deal.

Went shotgun shopping two weeks ago.  Liked the feel of both the 1301 and the Ultima Patrol.  I liked the 1301 a little better (the fde is damn sexy in person), but I couldn’t bring myself to pay the extra $800 for a 1301 and walked out with the UP.  Very happy with the decision so far.

I don’t mind that, just crazy how much they went up soon after I picked mine up this new gen came out. Had it been a new gen at 1700 I would have passed, I thought 1100.00 was a pretty good price so I bought it. That’s about the most I’d pay for a shotgun, I have an 11-87 that I picked up pretty cheap, had barrel cut to 20.5”, rethreaded for remchokes and added a Remington +3 factory mag extension. It shoots everything from low brass to 3”.

ETA: supposedly it’s not cerakoted, it’s a silver aqua-tech finish for corrosion.

Local Sportsmans Warehouse has the new mod 2 with pistol grip. It's very nice. I don't care for the pistol grip though. If I didn't just buy a 300, and actually have somewhere to shoot shotguns more, I'd probably pick it up.

I think my 1301 was $710 out the door at Clydes with an Urbino pistol grip stock and a nordic extension. They had a pallet of them and said they weren’t selling. I sold it to fund a Benelli M4 and have regretted it ever since.

$1,799. I've never seen anything, gun or other, that wasn't overpriced at SW. However, sometimes in stock staring you right in the face can over ride the brain.
Luckily, my brain was working, and it stayed there.

I got mine at gunzonedeals. The black is out of stock now but the quote price of the FDE is $1,689.

But they also have the grey A300 for $880 which is still super tempting even after two 1301s

Anyone know which Gen 1301 I have?

Purchased in March 2023, NIB from Bereli. It's the LE Tactical Model with a fixed 7 round tube, plastic tube cover. Non-threaded barrel. Updated bolt release. Came with the Mesa Tactical pistol grip stock. Got it for $1500.00.

Beretta didn't really differentiate "generations" up until now with the mod2. But it sounds like the latest version before the mod2. I guess what most people would call a "Gen 3".
Sounds like it's probably the J131TP18NLE

Beretta being Beretta they didn’t really market the 1301 Tactical at all. It flew under the radar for years. I think I paid around $800 for my first 1301 back in 2016/2017 time frame. Now the cats out of the bag and everyone knows how great of a shotgun it is so no surprise it’s cost just went up significantly. I think Beretta is still going to sell the 1301 well but with this new price they will probably sell a whole lot more A300UPs instead. I’m not seeing a reason to upgrade from my Gen 2 yet.

This is probably true especially with today's inflation/economy.
I liked the 1301 I saw at Sportsmans. I like the features of the 1301, but for 800ish less, the A300P is probably all the shotgun I will ever need.

I'm looking hard at one of these as a retirement gift.  Is the Mod 2 worth it?  I can get LEO Program pricing so it looks like $1500 for the Mod 2. But I'll have to order and wait.  Or I can grab a pre-Mod2 for $1450.

It's definitely worth the $50. The pro lifter alone is $70, and those seem impossible to find right now.

I'd say it's worth a reasonable wait. The updated forend feels a quite a bit nicer too.

What did they upgrade on this new version?  I handled a 1301 a year ago and it honestly felt really cheap compared to the Benelli M4, and at this new price point Beretta is on crack pricing this thing against an M4 unless they made some major changes.

Like others are saying this gun used to be under $1,000.  It made a lot of sense then.

Upgraded the lifter, and forearm I know for sure.

I have handled Benelli M3, and M4, Beretta 1301T and 300UP, as well as others from Remington, Stoeger, and others.  What I remember most between the Benellis and Berettas is the Benellie is much heavier.  Not sure but I think sometimes, some people equate a heavier firearm with better quality. Or conversely lightweight with cheaper.
Personally, the 1301 felt really nice to me.

I bought an M4 then a 1301 last year. I liked the 1301 I bought this new mod. 2. The Beretta is significantly lighter.

On the new Mod. 2 the forend feels much better and less "cheap" than the previous generations. Same with the shell tube cover, it seems like a different and nicer polymer.

The trigger shape is a little different but not that significant in my opinion.

Plus for what it's worth Benelli is owned by Beretta.

I have both I’m not sure I understand what you mean about feeling cheap vs the M4. The M4 is made out of steel and heavier. The 1301 is aluminum and significantly lighter but neither gun feels cheap. The M4 is a good gun but the 1301 outmatches it in every day use by being lighter, faster, and until this resent update, less expensive. At the same price point I’d still choose the 1301 over the M4 but I don’t think Beretta is trying to compete against the M4. Outside of them both being semi-auto gas driven 12ga shotguns, they are not really in competition with each other. The 1301 is the more practical gun while the M4 is probably what I’d take if I had to carry a shotgun in a trench. I think the surge in popularity is driving the price increase for the 1301. That and the release of the A300UP. Prior to this new modification the A300UP was only around $100-$200 less than the 1301. With that price gap now much wider, I imagine Beretta will sell more A300UPs than before. For most users the A300UP is more shotgun than they will ever need anyways.

Agree, the pro lifter alone is worth the price bump. It should come standard on the 1301 and it sounds like now it finally is. The forend is nice, especially if the user doesn’t plan on changing it out. The new one at least has options for mounting a light where before you had to change it out as there were no provisions for a mount and using the magazine clamp to mount a light just leads to the clamp sliding off the gun. The clamp should only be used as a sling point for serious use IMO. The magazine tube cover is updated, there were some issues with the prior tube covers cracking. It looks like Beretta beefed up the polymer in that area. I’m not sure that straight trigger adds anything. The 1301 has always had a decent trigger. So it is more a cosmetic thing. I think there is still room for improvement though. A beveled loading port, do away with the polymer magazine tube cover and instead just give us a full aluminum tube with an index point for the magazine clamp so it won’t slide off the gun if you use it to mount a light.

Got a Pistol gripped 1301 Mod 2 for $1650 shipped OTD so, not super cheap or expensive considering the impact of inflation on everything in addition to the updates.

Well I ordered a Mod 2.  It's my retirement gift.  Between Officer pricing and the 'gift fund' amount supplied by my guys it's costing me $176 out of pocket.  I thought that was a good value.
