Managed to get 500 from American Reloading a month ago. Anyone have experience with them or the 62gr flat base version? Trying to decide between Shooter's World Tactical Rifle, H335, TAC, and now Midwest Powders MP518 (StaBALL Match). Not expecting great groups, but 2" and good velocity in 5.56 pressure would be fine with me

I purchased a 1000 64 grain SP FB bullets from AR. I haven't reloaded anything yet and it will most likely be a while. I have H335, A2460 and Tac on hand. I will probably test all of these powders, I might even try some Varget but I'm leaning toward A2460 and Tac being the better powder choice.

I haven't tried Staball Match but it also looks like a good choice.

My two loads with the 62 gr TBBC consist of Lake City brass, CCI 41 primers, both with an OAL of 2.175".
Ramshot TAC 24.8gr with a velocity of 2690 FPS out of a 14.5" barrel.
Accurate 2520 27.2gr with a velocity of 2640 FPS out of an 11.5" barrel. (this is a pretty hot load)
Both loads are decently accurate but I've never been totally happy with them.

That is spicy from an 11.5...lol. I've tried 24.6gr of TAC with RMR 69gr and figured that or a little higher would be a decent place to work up to. Thanks!

I have loaded many 64gr Nosler BSB, not exactly the same but similar bullets. I believe my load is 23.8gr 8208 in lake city, with CCI450s. Its a pretty stout load if I recall, works well in my gun, definitely up in 556 range.

Well FWIW, I load alot of 62gr FMJ and lately SP, pulls from various manufacturers.

24.4gr of H335 is accurate, & yields:

2605 FPS w/ 11.5"
2701 FPS w/14.5"
2839 FPS w/16"
2902 FPS w/18"

24.5gr of TAC has worked for me.

Thanks, everyone. I'll make a ladder with TAC and see what happens for velocity and groups.

TAC ladder loaded up. Possibility of trying it tomorrow. 24.6, 24.8, 25, and 25.2.
ETA: aimed for an OAL of 2.245, but it's a fairly sizeable range due to tips.

Why so  long? I just seat them to the center of the cannelure and the variation from the tips usually is still within the cannelure.

In my experience, it seems like accuracy with most loads is better around 2.245-2.255. If these get me good velocity but not accuracy, I'll try seating them deeper.

Is that your “go to the range test box” with 300BLK in there also?

If you continue to mix calibers, especially one that’ll feed in your 5.56 rifle, all I have to say is be careful.

Generally I don't mix. I use 30 rnd pmags for 5.56 and 20 rnd lancers for 300 blk. This will be a slow enough and minimal round range session so I'm not worried about it. When I decide on a load, I only load that round and keep them separate. However, I'll never be foolish enough to say it won't happen to me.

I used 26.0 A2520 with the 62 gr TBBC, which was top end of .223 pressure per published info…

Also used 25.0 A2520 with Win Power Point 64 gr soft points, but those are more of a regular soft point and not a barrier projectile with a solid copper base.  Also near top end for .223 specs.

Good info, thanks!

If American Reloading gets more of these or 62's and I can snag some, I may rework with my MP518. Otherwise, I've got 2 pounds of TAC specifically for these 500. Well, I had 1 open pound and bought a second the other day.
