Springfield 1816/1835 made 1838. Armory converted and rifled. Bubba (appearing you be 19th century bubba) shortened. I squared the muzzle and cleaned up the mushroomed nipple. Fired a fair number of 80 grain blanks without issue. Likely will not live fire because of the bad rep of the chamber strength on this style of conversion.

Picked up my 11th BP revolver, a Leech Rigdon 1851 replica by Uberti.
From what I have read it is not a very accurate replica, only slightly accurate, but a little different from my older 1851 by Pietta, which is at the bottom of this picture. Attached File |

Picked up an EICo Brown Bess “kit” from IMA-USA. Came in pretty rough but with a super nice 1781 English lock. This was a bear, everything needed considerable fitting with the repro stock and a fair bit of additional hardware versus what they sent, but she did clean up pretty nice.

Bought an M&P 15 online and the FFL I had it shipped to had this T/C Hawken .50 in the consignment rack for $185.00. It’s in excellent condition and shoots balls conical and sabots very accurately. The stock under the sling is beautifuly grained, almost like a brindle dog striped and deep look. How could I not buy it? Big difference from my Cablelas reproduction(which is no slouch either to be fair) Unfortunately I got this far and I can’t figure out how to post a picture. I’m way better with guns than technology.

Just got this Uberti 1949 Pocket pistol delivered yesterday. It is the smaller one below. The other is an 1851 in .36 caliber I have had for years.
This is my 17th BP gun. 13th BP revolver, but the first in .31 caliber. It is a smaller version of the 1851 above it (or maybe the 1851 is a larger version of it) with a 5-shot cylinder as opposed to a 6. Looking forward to getting it to the range.. Attached File |

The color came from Fiebing’s leather dye, dark brown and the finish is Laurel Mountain Permalyn. Pic thread so here are some more in progress shots from the build. The barrel to stock fit was awful and took 90% of the time I had in the project to get it to an acceptable place. I also had to devise a way of pinning the barrel to the stock since the original barrel lugs were too corroded to use. I silver soldered new lugs on and basically had to blind pin them through the stock after a lot of inletting, measuring and hoping for the best. Also figuring out how to fit and pin a trigger was interesting - took a lot of youtube watching and trial and error. Attached File The 240 year old lock is really the bright spot of this musket. The parts were in great shape, cleaned up nicely and it sparks great. Attached File Evaporust was hugely effective in getting the rust and 200 years of caked on crap off of the metal. Took a fair bit of scouring and burnishing with the ramrod as well to look presentable. Attached File With the Fiebing’s dye, I was going for a reddish brown English walnut look and I think it came out about right if maybe a bit too red. I have no clue what kind of Indian wood the repro stock was cut from but it was ok to work with and took the dye well. Everything else that I built over the last year was much more modern (mostly AK’s) so this was a nice change and pretty satisfying to have brought back from what was essentially a fencepost. |

Fiebing’s leather dye going on the Bess stock. These shots are pretty true to the final color.

Just picked this up yesterday from a nice gentleman who also sold me an M1 Garand. It's a Ruger Old Army. I have wanted one for years but they went out of production prior to me getting into BP guns. Seen below wih my first BP gun, a Pietta 1858 replica in .44 I bought in 2012.

I took my Lyman Deer Stalker to the 25 yard range this past weekend. Unfortunately I walked out the door at home without some conical bullets I had bought and ended up shooting lead balls. But that thing was fun to shoot.
Attached File eta: Finally got the bullets out there a week later. A Powerbelt 330 grain bullet with 90 grains is FFFG behind it at about 24 yards.. The fiber optic sights are good for my old eyes. Attached File |

Got this Vest Pocket Deringer the other day. Single Shot .31 caliber. The picture below shows it with my Model 1849 Pocket Revolver in the same caliber, which used to be my smallest BP gun and is pictured in a post above with a full size 1851 BP revolver.
Attached File ETA: I hope to get out and shoot it this weekend, weather allowing. |

Been wanting a cool wall hanger for a while, and broke down and bought one recently (inspired by Jack Hinsons One Man's War).
Springfield Model 1878, made in 1884. Seems pretty clean, nice shiny bore. Can't wait to go shoot it! Attached File |

It is a Uberti replica of an 1848 3rd Model Dragoon, sort of a transition gun between the other 2, an 1847 Walker and 1851. This makes my 15th BP revolver. Attached File |
