I have dozens of Surefire weapon lights on all different kinds of guns. They’re excellent.
With the flood of aftermarket parts available does it still make sense to go and buy an off the shelf sure fire for 300 bucks versus putting together a body, tail cap/switch and LED/lense that you like?
I’m hoping to outfit a Benelli m4 SBS and want the Surefire pro m300 mounting system
and reliability but I want a super flood beam vs throw. I want the small form factor of the shorter body.
Over the years I have replaced a few outdated surefire heads with MALKOFF heads and they’ve performed really well. With all the folks making surefire style bodies wouldn’t make sense just a piece one together to get what I’m after?
I dig the mod light buttons and would probably make a reliable light with the availability of high quality aftermarket parts now. I’ve added a MLOK rail to the Benelli and would like to use the modularity of that system for the light and switch/button.
What would you do? Is it cheaper to build or buy?
