I'm super happy with the recore he did on my 8" 30 cal can.  If I didn't plan on occasionally running cast boolets from my 300 blk (and wanting to be able to pull the core) this would have been an awesome way to get the job done.

Looking forward to the finished pictures.

He does beautiful work, and takes nice pictures too. Man, knocking that weight off is a gamechanger.

And best of all, like several very talented guys around here, he's generous sharing knowledge, techniques and machining tips with beginners.

Those are very respectable weights for all steel suppressors in those lengths.  Nice ‘recycling’ job.

That is freaking awesome. I’ve got some commercial cans as well, and I’ve been learning the last couple of days of the form 1 can world.

He used to, or still has a YouTube channel doesn’t he? I remember seeing some of his videos a while ago and was really impressed by what he was doing.

I'm sorry, I must have missed it.  I do my best to get back to people within a day, though I was camping in a remote area with no internet service from the 7-12th of this month.

That's the impression I got from his videos, and seeing his work on here is outstanding.
I remember seeing his 22 bolt gun on youtube and thought it was (and still is) the coolest bolt action 22 I have ever seen.

Looks great. What caliber are these?

I would like to hear SixtySix explain the stack. Just curious on the spacing.

The spacing is a little different on each.  They have 9, 7 and 6 baffles, respectively.  In terms of the distance between the distal face of one to the proximal face of the next:

Long can: .75, .65, .65, .55, .45, .35, .35, .35

Medium: .75, .65, .55, .45, .4, .35

Short: .75, .55, .45, .35, .25

The blast baffles appear much shorter because 3/8" of them is threaded into the tube.  Each cone skirt is .075" longer than the spacing denoted; the shoulders are .050" thick, and each has a .025" register on the back side.  Walls are .050" on all, blast baffle cones are .065" thick, remainder are .040".

Thank you. What angle are the cones? 50, 60 etc?

These are all 50° since the cans are geared toward supersonic centerfire rifle rounds.

@Sixtysixdeuce

How can those be 50 degree?  Honestly asking.  They look more steep than a 60.  Which way are you calculating the angle? I've seen other 50d cones on other Form 1 boards and they are more shallow/wider like a straight edged RSC if that makes sense.

We (machinists) reference the included angle (both sides) of the conical taper.

Form 1 builders might sometimes reference the compound angle set when cutting on their lathe.  This is incorrect, especially since some lathes, namely Asian machines, have the scale backwards.  My compound is at 65° to cut 50° cones.  90-65=25, 25*2=50.

Thank you. Totally makes sense. Now, why not 40 degrees (using your way of measuring)?

Because 40° stacks didn't do any better on the meter than 50°, and they use more material, take longer to make and consume more tooling.

As it is, my balance between speed and tool wear means I'll burn through 3 or 4 MGMN300 inserts and about as many CCMT doing a stack of 8-10 baffles in 17-4.  Less aggressive feeds would save on inserts, but if it doubles my time on each part, that's a net loss.  If I were doing it for personal stuff and didn't care about time, I could also sharpen the inserts and keep using them, but again, time is money, and it's faster to change out the inserts and keep hitting the same numbers than to constantly stop & start the machine to check dimensions cutting with worn & re-ground cutters.
