You all know that firearms made prior to Jan. 1, 1899 are antique and exempt from record keeping requirements. This rifle came to me straight from British Columbia. Cost me 200 + another 200 for 2cav mold, dies, cast bullets and two notebooks full of notes from the very specific German gentleman. He did check with his "people" and he checked U.S.Customs. Its easy when there are dates stamped into the rifle and this was mfg in 1888. Gotta love antiques!! I didn't want to pay a lot for one of these and this one dropped into my hands in a parking lot off Interstate 5 in NorCal. (Calif also has the same antique info in state law taken from CGA68).

I already had Lee dies and the 2 cavity RCBS mold for 385 gr .446" and I had 40 rds of Bell Basic Mauser Base cases, and somewhere hidden in my loading room another 40 pcs of Bertrum brass. The correct caliber designation: 11.15x60R Mauser.

Cool. Almost bought one of the Uruguayan 1871s that had the conversion to 6.5mm. Still kinda regret letting it slip away.
