Just picked up a Gew 98. Bolt Mismatch but otherwise all matching
Unfortunately the stock was crudely duffelcut and the foreend was missing. The seller had a late war replacement stock that he included and thats what its wearing now. Since the photos I’ve put the butt plate and cleaning rod back. These rifles are pretty neat. Considering stripping (BUT NOT SANDING!) the stock and giving her some love with Haufski’s (@tothemax) wax.  Attached File Attached File |

Heck yeah. As long as there is no top finish (like a resin or similar) the wax will penetrate and help nourish and protect the wood.
Can't wait to see the results.
