Does anyone know how to re-attach the spring to this part here? Is it even necessary to have them connected? After half the afternoon fiddling with the damn thing I just reassembled the rifle with the spring not clipped onto the metal piece. Will I blow up my gun?

The right angle hook of the spring goes in the hole.
