Looking for a little advice with this powder as I have never used it. I'm looking to load up a large quantity of 223 Vmax rounds for prairie dogs. Its my understanding it's more temp stable than various ball powders.

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it using 53, 55 or 60 gr Vmax that can comment on temp stability, accuracy ect.

Rifles it would be used in are
- Ruger American predator 223 with 22 inch barrel
- Free floated AR with 18 inch criterion Wylde barrel.

I’ve used it. I found it to be very accurate. It meters pretty well for a stick powder. It is more temp stable than most ball powders. It should work great for your purpose.

I recently came upon 8lbs of the stuff. Here's a link to the thread that may help. It's not Vmax specific though...

I use it with 62gr Nosler bullets and love it.   Nosler's load data shows it as the most accurate powder tested for the 60/62 grain Nosler bullets and it works great for me.

24.5 grains of Benchmark under the 60 grain V- MAX shoots well for me. It is my favorite powder at that weight.

ETA: I get 5 shot groups under an inch at 200 yards on calm days. I am not good at doping the wind and blustery days open those groups considerably. I haven’t noticed any change in performance on target summer, winter, spring or fall.

Agreed with the others here. Temp stable. Meters well for a stick powder. Very accurate in the guns I've used it in.

Great powder.

24.7 under a 55 gr Vmax is my Hornady TAP copy load. Shoots great in all my ARs. Was getting around 3100 fps from my 18" WOA new barrel.

Came to post this exactly.

24.5 Benchmark pushing a 60gr VMAX loaded simply to 2.250” is one of the best shooting loads I’ve ever used in .223

Shot heaps of Benchmark at 25.3gr under all kinds of 55gr projectiles too and it was pretty decent but the aforementioned 24.5gr under a 60gr VMAX is perfection.

25.2 grains of Benchmark under 50 grain VMax is my all-around light bullet accuracy load. It shoots well in everything I run it through. I get 3,295 from a 20", 3,124 from a 16", and 2,616 from a 10.5". It shoots very close to a 5.56 55 grain fmj trajectory too.

28.0gr under a 40gr Nosler ballistic tip is just shy of 3600fps and is sub-MOA out of my 20" 1:8 BCM SAM-R barrel.
