I have a nice old Glenfield that has horrendous wood on it.  I want to put something nicer on it, anyone have a source for nice wood, either solid or laminate?

I looked at Boyd's but saw a lot of grumbling online about their capped forearms being too short for Glenfield's.

Years ago I bought some wood for a fire damaged 1941 Marlin 30-30 lever action.
It was somewhat ready to install but needed some fitting.

The forend sent wasn't correct and with a phone call the correct one was on the way.

I don't know if they are still in business.

But back then they had a pretty good selection of different firearms furniture.

Thanks, they seem to still be in business.

Before I got banned at Marlinowners, I had this thread going which has some different pics of different forends.

https://www.marlinowners.com/threads/forend-end-cap-vs-barrel-band.561596/

The old part number was F406046, which you might still be able to find in stock somewhere.

Sold out here, but a pic.

@wm69

So the Glenfield forearm is 9 3/4 inches give or take a hair?  IS that the normal size of older Marlins?  Seems I read somewhere that the new Remington versions were a bit shorter.

Mine was a Glenfield 30A.  The forearm part number I posted above was a Remlin part number, and fit with a little minor fitting.  I got it from Brownells when Remlin was still in production.

I had a Glenfield with the embossed deer head and oak leaves.  I replaced the set with these:

lots of fitting required

I got this set for my 39A back when Numrich had them.

Cost me $90.  $53 for the stock (which will also fit the 30A, 336, 1895 etc) and $30ish for the forend.  I was lucky to get an extra stock (not quite as nice) that I put on my 30A with the forend I linked a few posts up.

This guy really hit the jackpot, same price I paid.

Nice :)

I had to lol about being banned from the Marlin forum. They're kind of full of themselves over there.

Fuck verticalscope.  They've ruined almost every forum I've been on.

Marlinowners was no exception, and I tried to warn the regulars what we coming when VS started with their usual BS, and VS decided to ban me.
