It was in my KAC handguard, parts and pieces Rubbermaid container.

I can't figure out what it goes to.

Yep.

It's officially called a barrel stop and it is required to mount a standard (barrel mounted) M203 under the M5 RAS.
I think KAC only includes them in the box of an M5 RAS intended for sale/shipment to a military.
It needs to be in place before the top section of the M5 is installed (if it's going to be utilized).

US Army P/N:    12973139

The DOD pays about $29 apiece for them, but you could easily get over $50 if you sell it because they're hard to find.
