Hey guys, I think there was a thread on this a while back but is there any word if FN is building anymore? I’m looking to pick one up but cannot find one.

Searching google for FN 56460:
There is this one that says in stock as of 5/12/20 https://highendgunstore.com/category/rifles/fnh/ Maybe this one too, it lets you add to cart and begin the process, but a phone call before ordering would make sense just in case. http://www.knesekguns.com/commercial/product_info.php?products_id=5017 That's two potential finds, I didn't dig all the way through google. |
|
|
Thanks. I must not have looked deep enough on google because I didn’t see either of those. Regardless, I called the first place and it doesn’t look like they have it and I can’t get through to the second one. I’ll try again at an earlier time tomorrow.

One place says "discontinued", but there is no evidence this is true. The next step you can take is to just call every shop from the google results and see if you get lucky that one of the smaller shop websites has poor inventory listings and might have one. That's actually how I got mine 2 years ago from Reeds Outdoor Sports. Website said 0 inventory, called them up anyway and waited for a callback while they checked...and while I was on the phone checking inventory at another place they called and said YES.
I went 11 pages deep into Bing this time and only found this potential offering, everything else seems to be the same websites over and over again: https://www.woodleysusa.com/Webpages/Main_Pages/Search_Results.php?searchbar=m249s&submit_search_bar=SEARCH A final option would be to buy a slightly used one on Gunbroker that likely will come with some of the stuff you will certainly have bought after the rifle purchase anyway. You should expect to be spending around $10k for the rifle, collapsible stock, optic, mount, links, 100rnd nutsacks, etc. So anything in that range with extras is on target. In the last few months the cheapest full length m249s sold on GB was $8853 used no extras, followed by $9300 used no extras. NIB no extras are going for $10k+. And should you find a para for the right price, acquiring a full length barrel and heatshield is simple. Finding a new condition club butt is a little harder. |

No luck calling around yet. Will continue hunting. Thanks for the help everyone.

Thanks for the info guys. I just heard that about them not in production right now as well. Looks like I’ll probably wait until they get back into production or if I can find something closer to retail price.
Thanks for the help everyone. |

I’ve been looking for an M249s for some time. I have a limit of about $9k which it appears is too little.
I too have googled and lots of sites that say they have them in stock really don’t. Go ahead and add 50 to your cart. That’s meaningless. |
|
|
I'm hoping they become more plentiful sometime soon as I'd like to pick one up too.

I work for a FN distributor. We have not had any 249's come through our inventory since July of 2017.

Not a bad deal. If someone buys this please be aware that folding stock(one outside of bag) will NOT work with the recoil assembly that comes with the rifle, you need the old one with a big yellow spring at the end. See this thread for more info on that: retro m249 |

They build a few batches a year.

What is a “good” price on one?
I had been saving for a while and offloaded some other toys and guess have missed the train. A Para fde was what I wanted. Snooze ya lose |
|
|
Personally I think anywhere below $8k is a good price. Just my thoughts.

Wades in Bellevue, WA has one, but I think they want $13k for it.

I was told by FN in October that “while the M249S has not been officially discontinued, we currently have no plans for another run”.

Sounds like I may have missed my opportunity. Could have bought one for $6,999. Now the only ones I ever see are selling on GB for $12,000+. |

Everyone I've seen local has been snatched up by an 07/02.
I passed on one about a year ago at $6500, because at the time I already had one and didn't feel like forking over the cash right then. Now I'm regretting it. |

$7-9k for a semi-auto belt fed is just asinine. And those were the prices when these were first introduced. Now the prices are beyond retarded.

View Quote Don't think of it as an overpriced semi-auto. Think of it as a foundation for a full-auto postie because that is what they are to the NFA community. Battlefield Las Vegas rents out posties that are converted M-249S. They say the factory FN gun performs well and has a higher MTBF than the 3rd party clone builds. It's a lot easier to convert a M249S than building one correctly from scratch or obtaining one via the demo letter route. Hence the price escalation plus you have guys who buy these things as status symbols, collectibles and now as "rare" investments. If you have to ask, you can't afford it and you'll never get it. |

I am in the hunt for a M249S as well.
I reached out to these guys: http://www.knesekguns.com/commercial/product_info.php?products_id=5017 They replied via email stating they are accepting 30% deposits for the M249S but they cannot give any delivery time frames on pre-orders. |

Yeah, that means "we are going to do nothing until we see if we are going to be allowed to sell them".
I guess owning a 249s is just another dream. Doc |

I’m assuming it’s not going to happen. At least not in this political climate and with their attention and focus on their huge new 249 contract. It may happen after that. Then all of us who over paid for their 249s will be pissed...

View Quote The shrike upper was unobtainium forever, and people said the same thing about it. That was from a small company, that eventually delivered. I'll have a little faith in FN, however I dont have any faith that you will be able to touch one at MSRP in today's market when it does release. |

I have been watching Gunbroker and used M249S are going for $12.5k. There's a NIB one listed for $19k. :( |

I have several semi BFs, if I had to give up either the 249S or the OOW 240 I would not hesitate to give up the 249S.
