I got a Sterling AR180 in good shape at a gun show not too long ago for $1500. They're out there, just not on Gunbroker. For some reason, people pay more than that for AR180B's on gunbroker.

I really want these to get sent to enough people for some thorough reviews to come out on them, especially compared to the AP5 in quality and reliability. I don't need a MP5 clone, but I do want one.
Kind of random, but is there some sort of internal barrel coating on these? Nitrite, chrome, naked steel, etc |

I didn't wait on the MAC.
Picked up the MKE AP5-P instead. I didn't have any issue with my last AP5-P. I didn't have any extractor or extractor spring replaced. The recoil spring bushing did sever after about 500 rounds. I replaced it and its running again. I figure with CHF barrel and I didn't have any issue with the last AP5-P, not worth waiting or taking a chance on the MAC-5. |

I sent a note to MAC and they told me they were still jammed up with the import paperwork approval. Looks like there will be no MAC5s available for sale for the foreseeable future...

I just ordered one from Battlehawk Armory around noon when they hit their site.
I went all in with a Lee's sporting lower, sear trip, A2 stock, Omega9k and grabbed some Bryce HK and an SD handguard to hopefully make a knock off MP5SD that's really 'safe' with some other goodies. Been an expensive day... |

While I won't argue Cold Hammer Forged is better than button rifled - Does it really matter that much in a 9mm or pistol cartridges?
And if Nitrided, Button rifling's durability is well extended. I'm just glad there is another reasonable clone. So Far MAC/SDS has offered some guns that generally look good and work well. I'm thinking Grab one or two before the election? |

Picked up my MAC5 a few days ago. Overall very happy with it. Going to be next week before I get a chance to shoot it, but fit and finish seem very nice. There is one blem by the front sight in the paint but nothing worth worrying over. Welds are fairly clean, action is slick, and magwell locks up tight and the mag button is installed correctly.

For those wanting to be super safe with these you will have a road block with the auto block. There's a lip that extends into the side channel which will block access for the sear trip to slide in freely.
Technically in minecraft you could probably mill that lip off and still keep the auto block in place and your dogs safe as it would still prevent the auto carrier from going in. Hypothetically it would take some small carbide drill bits and roughly 2 hours with a tiny file to get things opened up. |

There are some pretty good reviews coming out on these, not just from the shill types either.
Went ahead and put one on order. Wont arrive before I travel for work though so it’s going to be a few weeks. Will be my first roller gun though. Mag prices sting a bit. |

View Quote You can probably file it to fit past, I haven't seen the sear block in the MAC guns, but I had to file on the trip a bit to fit past the block in my AP5. You need the trip to be able to freely slide in the receiver and past that sear block with basically no binding. |

You would need to drill and file to get the trip to clear. I posted a picture on hkpro in the clone talk section showing the block.
I certified my sbr paperwork today through silencershop. The MAC 5 was not a model listed under mertsav so It'll likely go to pending research... hopefully I still get a quick turn around, but we'll have to see. |

If you are SBRing - does the MAC-5 work well?
I'm curious of first hand accounts. Might get one before election - kind of concerned prices might spike after that. |
|

[#47]
Mine has run great so far. About 500 rnds or so and accuracy and fit and finish are still great. Been very happy with my sample size of one.
I was looking at HK models, but might just save the money and get a 5k. The SP5K I was looking at had uglier welds than my MAC5 that costs a 3rd of the price. To me these guns are range toys and that money will go to other projects. Being an HK snob as well, this gun scratches the itch for what I've been looking for and is a great value at getting into roller locked PCC's |

picked up my MAC 5 on Friday from my ffl I paid $943 shipped. I have the AP5-P and some of the welds on my MAC 5 are better. the finish on the MAC 5 is not what I like but I already knew that when I bought it. I am debating on purchasing another one or a AP5. I want to do a SD clone. also the MAC 5k now in stock at atlantic
