I picked up a Ruger American compact in 7mm-08 at Sportmans last week.  I have yet to load any ammo for it.  New factory ammo is too expensive and hard to find.  I did make some 7mm-08 brass from some 7.62 LC brass. I have some 7x57's so I have bullets.  I will also need a scope since it has no irons sights.

I have one in 6.5.  Not the compact tho.  Insane accuracy for a cheap gun.  Came with a 3 rd mag, and I bought the magpul AICS 7.62 mags too.  Be aware if you use the magpul mags, and accidentally over insert them on an open bolt they will take a lot of force to get back out.  Snap them in on a closed bolt, no issue.

Also my pic rail was not mounted tight at all.  All screws were barely snug.

Starline has stepped up to the plate the last few years when it comes to brass that a person doesn't normally find.  My American is the compact with an 18" barrel.  I'm not sure a 16 power scope is what I want.  I'm thinking more on the line of a 3-9.  A 2-7 would be the bomb.
