What plates are better then RMA 1092?

First, if you need a large, it's a 1093, not a 1092. The 1093 is SAPI Large, stops M855A1 and weighs 6.4 pounds.
Second, anything that stops more threats will be heavier in your price range. The 3S9M at 6.9 pounds for SAPI Large is a perfect example.
Third, what is "better" to one person may not be to another. "Better" to someone could mean lighter and same threat level. "Better" to another may be higher threats but more weight is OK. For me "better" means more threats stopped at less weight... this will exceed your budget. For example:
Hesco 4800 is level IV and 5.7-5.9 pounds for SAPI L, but $1350 per plate.
The LTC 28590 were the lightest level IV but out of production. SAPI Large was 5.58 pounds. They were over $2300 per plate.
Keep in mind, the old 1093 was just 5.15 pounds, but did not stop M855A1. No level IV is that light.
