Harder in more sharpness or just more shove?

Others here have said it's both. Some with bolt actions call it brutal.

More shove. Gun says I’m going there and you can’t stop me.again it’s not horrible.  Just not as good as with a naked brake.

Interesting. I sure wish we had faster access to cans to check all this out :D

Next time I take it out I’ll take some slow motion video of it. Both ways.

I agree. We should be able to rent them and take them out to try out. To this day a 50bmg suppressor is one that I've never seen in person at a range or shooting spot.

Is it worth a watch? If so I’ll check it out later at home or if we get some better cell service. I avoid most of his stuff because it’s too long for me and I don’t really get his humor.

Yep. It would seem to me it looks like GT's body isn't translating no can, Barrett Can, to CGS, into any crazy additional recoil to the shooter..

Years ago when Barrett first started to dip into building a Barrett can, I fired a prototype can on an M95 . 1 shot and I was done. I saw the little twinkling stars for about a minute or so.

That hurt. A lot.

Next iteration was a larger 3" diameter can on an M82A1. It had a little more kick than the arrowhead brake equipped version. But it was surprisingly quiet. After 1 round I pulled 1 ear cup off of my ear and fired again. Thought what the hell and fired it again with no hearing protection at all. All I heard was the supersonic crack of the bullet. And this was in the indoor 100m range at Barrett.
The can was a heavy bitch though.
It went through 2 changes to become the can with built in brake that is offered now.

I was also really surprised with how well it tamed the noise and blast.

There's good footage of different cans being used on the 107 and the effect on recoil. Very applicable to this discussion.

And what is your opinion on the m82a1 allegedly not being rated for suppressors?
Just start with recuperator removed and send it?

The 82a1 style will beat itself pretty badly if fed a steady diet with the can on it. When I was there, the standard reply was to remove the accelerator and accelerator rod from the bolt carrier.
The accelerator would beat the crap out of the shelf it works off of in the trigger housing.

There had been instances of the extractor blowing off the bolt face. There is a pic floating around of a Philippine soldier with an extractor imbedded in his cheek from a blown extractor.

A lot has changed since I worked there. The dedicated Barrett can for the M107 and M107A1 works very well with the 107 style rifles.

Sad to hear about it beating itself apart
Is there a tangible difference between 82a1 and m107 style bolts? I was under the impression the 107 was just an 82a1 with a mil designation.

They are pretty different. There's been a couple comparisons posted here.

I don't think I ever updated this thread.  The Rex MG50 with the brake ring runs like a champ on the 107A1.

Very satisfied.

I put in a request to follow your Instagram but no response yet. I’m looking at pulling the trigger on the MG50 for my M96 Windrunners. The brake being a full 360° is my only concern. It seems like the bottom ports would blow a lot of dirt and debris back into the shooters face.

I don't know if you've seen the new Thunderbeast 50 can but it looks very promising and I think the brake just vents to the sides.

Well I shot mine today. Had some random issues with a couple of ripped off rims and 1-2 failures to fully eject the spent case, but I fired about 35 rounds in total today. To me the recoil increase over the factory unsuppressed braked, is very minimal. I shot sitting from the bench, and prone on the ground. The Big Brake does direct some of the blast back at the shooter, but it's not a lot compared to say the AR50 which would clear my sinuses after every shot. I'll try to get some shorts up.
