Well, it is "A" way of doing it. I think the original intent was to have essential mission equipment mounted center mass, for Military Free Fall operations. One of those might be a gat. So in that sense, yes, that's exactly what it was made for. But. If you're not going to be driving all day, then I could see it as being a PITA. Depending on their SOP, when you jumped it in, you might stash it with your parachute equipment, and then throw on your belt kit, or, you might keep it on as a handy spot for a secondary, or primary mags, or radio. In your case, If I needed to go in heavy, with lots of re-loads, and possibly a radio, or even a BOK/TQ, then yeah, it might be a good piece of kit. A light wind jacket thrown over it might even be a good idea. But if it's just to and from work, or dropping the kids off, then I'd probably go with a regular belt holster, positioned so I could get at it while sitting. Heavy kit rides better on the waistline, vs higher up on the chest.
