I need a leather scabbard for a 16" Rossi. Nothing fancy. Not for a horse. Just something for my son to keep his carbine in. Any ideas?

Scabbards are for transportation. Leather is not suitable for long term storage, as it promotes rust.
Get a gun "sock" or soft case, or better yet, a safe, for storage. |

If it isn't going to live in a safe, I vote gun rack on the wall. Don't know how old your son is but nothing gave me more joy at 10 years old than walking down the hall and seeing my 410 hanging under Dad's 12 gauge.

Jon at gunstockcover.com does amazing work. I've been buying from him for 10 years...
As mentioned, leather isn't the best to store a gun in long term. Some cleaning, normal condition and keeping an eye on the guns condition is a must.. |
