I have done extensive work on overcoming all the weaknesses and erroneous engineering and manufacturing issues associated with these clones
to create an actual tough as nails , dependable , zero holding LAM.... The lasers are full power...so if you are willing to do some work and use your brain I'll walk you through it on the cheap Just takes the effort ....are you ready ?? Watch all my videos on YT ....I post daily to help you with LAMS , NV , Tripods and generally a proper set up for your needs.. Enjoy ... https://youtu.be/GVuRAf2EQ0M?si=ZP6TYBr6oHIo5uoe Any questions ?/ I'm here for ya guys Fire away ! I have tested and put these things through the gauntlet .. They are NOT worthy until you do my mods....forget it!!! you wanna see the guts and the true issues ?? watch my videos |

I would like to also dispel the lie that Somogear is currently potting the circuit boards, diodes, and any connections or soldered points inside these units
THEY ARE NOT !!!! I have 2 new units in my possession as of October ...tore into them, they are NOT potted in any way shape or form The units were purchased directly from Somogear website and advertised and labled as such... They are lying and not doing any potting These LAMS are fully susceptible to failure and do under the weakest amount of recoil ... Ill walk you through it and keep facts as facts .... |

Maybe I'm one of those lazy guys, but I'm looking for a step-by-step guide with pictures and a BoM.
That said, yeah, I'm surprised Somogear hasn't addressed the spring issue themselves more decisively. |

Maybe Ive been very fortunate but the couple that I have have worked on everything Ive thrown them on
I did bust the first one I bought a few years ago when installing a new battery. Likely broke the lead off the battery compartment. Ill give the video a watch |

My laser shot all the way left and won't adjust anymore, I knew buyin it, that it was a gamble bought a MAWL
Would like to fix my unit tho. |
|

@shotinthedark7 - I’m curious what your background and expertise related to LAM’s is?
Watched the video and thought your observations on the build quality were enlightening. Will be interested to see how the unit you modified performs overall. |

Well…
That’s not good. I have 4 of the “potted” units on order. |

Interesting this replica is higher power than a Perst? I’ll have to buy one to pop open and look at the internals.

What did you do with it ?? you can fix it or send it to somebody that will

@Shotinthedark7
Just got done going down the Somogear rabbit hole last night and ran by your videos. Very informative. Have you thought about getting the Somogear Ngal? The illuminator on that one looks a lot cleaner on the edges than the other models. I'll probably order one before the 1st of the year and dismantle, pot it and what every else it'll need to make it worthy of my gun haha. |

With all of the videos of people using these on RS I have a feeling that at some point the FDA is going to clamp down on these just like the ATF changed their opinion on pistol braces and the EPA shut down diesel tuners.

OK I finally have a day off
I am in the process of getting coffee and things around my counter top Ill get rolling on tearing into this virgin unit I was corresponding with Michael Wiellet the owner of Paragon Armory last night and promised him I'd get this documented video up today as well.. I warned him against advertising PEQ15's as potted when they are NOT I know this is a Somogear deception and not him and I did not want to see him in legal trouble in the future as it only takes one POS Lawyer .... So look for the vids to begin today first thing Ill do is dispel the potting rumor Then Ill get busy doing a tutorial of the process of making these nits worthy I had an NGAL paid for on order for weeks and finally cancelled it as I had some family need $$ for unforseen medical bills ..I had to help them I will bet all my chips , the NGAL only differs from the PEQ in the body material only ...most other components and practices will be the same I know manufacturing ....keeping parts minimal and standardized across all platforms is very important ..we already know the electrical issue with pc board lead to battery body is the same... Laser modules are the same ...etc |
|
|
Was the unit that you’ll be tearing into today ordered from Somogear or from Paragon?
I questioned the potting claim from Somogear and this is the reply that I received… This happened once before and I still don’t know the reason. Maybe the wrong package was sent because the PCB version had just been released at that time? Most orders to the US now include PCB services, so you don’t have to worry about this problem happening again. -- Regards Pretty standard “I don’t know” answer. Looking forward to what you find today. |

You should give yourself a little more credit, the vids are better than grampa quality. If you have good info, the production of the video doesn’t mean too much. I would suggest letting us know a decent source for those springs. Not all springs are created equal and I would hate to have to open this little bitch back up for a higher quality spring. |

Thank You to all
I have cut full video today , but the resolution on my camera was hella big... UHD 30 is not good ....my software I bought cannot even splice 4 vids together without crashing !!! so I had to upload each segment ...arghhh! they are up now and processing ... BTW ...shocker ! this one was somewhat potted...unlike the first one... is it actual potting ?? ummm no ..its a thin layer of soft set acrylic of some sort but I guess you may say it's potted.... not up to my standards and certainly not gonna do jack shit for longevity,,but they have the ability to claim it ... yada yada .... enjoy kids.. springs are Handi Pack SRM 160 part # 88262 https://youtu.be/Q9ZRt2XNVUk?si=hHlO_wqB2QXYMSEu compression 3/8" x 29/32" |

Gentlemen ...
After constant evaluations of the changes I make I am going to alter my recommendations accordingly This is a constant process or evolution so it's par for the course... Do NOT install the heavier spring I utilize on the laser modules for the IR Illuminator I am experiencing travel limitations on this as the tension for some reason is too much for this adjustment pylon ...so it limits the movement .. I feel the stock spring is sufficient for this application and thus zero for an illuminator is not exactly an intelligent worry ......it'll be good enough....the spring I used should be a 3/8" x 3/4" in my estimation to be proper ....you may adjust accordingly and use a 3/4" spring ....compression or maintain OEM...... Enjoy .... |
|

Gentlemen ....
See my latest as of this morning ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D353GQF3G_4 My first PEQ clone with all mods completed and fully torture tested has failed to supply power from board to either IR Illuminator and both laser modules... Obviously these are both not going to fail so it's a power distribution issue from board The connections at the plugs at board are fully potted and not loose I may get the ambition to open it yet again to get a full prognosis or shall I say coroner report ...... But my conclusion is this : These are NOT worth the $ nor the effort at this point ,,,,this just changed everything ... Get a Sotac or SMS XK68 they just flat out work ....with no need for all this effort Buy a Sotac and an Inforce IR and be done .... |

Do you order straight from SOTAC or is there someone in the US that sells product for them? |
