Why do you see so many suppresed Walther .22s ?
Is there a feature of these pistols that lends itself to good silencing or are they ubiquitous like the Ruger? |
Very nice!! |
they have a barrel nut at the muzzle that is easily replaced for a threaded muzzle nut.. That, and they are just a neat little 22 to suppress. real light weight with an aluminum can. |

I'll tell ya a secret. Instead of spending all the money on lighting, I use natural light. It'll make the phto 10 times better. Living in Florida, every day is BRIGHT and sunny. I'll take it out into the bed of my truck and use a homemade light box, or out of pure lazeyness shoot it as a cloud passes in front of the sun. This will cut any harsh shadows. I started with a 1.3mp Mavica style camera Nice "Bedside Combo" |

What is the difference in canning .22's and all others?.....Legally speaking.
no difference in legality, unless of course you wish to put a can on a short barreled rifle..then the rifle also requires paperwork for a bbl <16 inches, OR if the can is integral to a rifle, and overall less than 16 inches.
a can is a can is a can...they all require an ATF form 4 to purchase. |

What part of PA are you from and can you recommend any dealers? Berks County here. Thanks

Howard Block in Upper Darby is good to deal with, and would seem to be reasonably close. He is a member here (M60Howard) and seems to have a table at the larger area shows (valley forge, both H-Burg shows). I've also heard nothing but good things about Henry Smith (Smith Specialty Arms) in Slatington - I haven't bought anything from him, but was always helpful and informative when asking questions at shows. |

were did you get the 6" barrel for your CZ75?
does that can cycle without a LID or does the CZ need one? how quiet is it? tell me more man I dig it!
yikes.
got the barrel from CZUSA.com but had to have them mod it to fit the older CZs as well as the new. Had it threaded by SWR. Its nice and needs no recoil buffer like i was told. It cycles just fine and is not too bad on the noise. I put grease in my cans and that helps alot but over all its not bad.

I'm sorry I don't know much about supressors but can you explain what wipes are? Are there are supressors that will not wear out? I would like to get one for my P99 in the future. Also just a general question. What's with all the supressed P22's and rugers? Surely you would want to supress some other ones instead. |

22 suppresses very well, and 22 suppressors are inexpensive. |

John,
Beautiful pic! (as usual!) Do you have any with the suppressor attached? |

I will in the next couple of days. We were having Hurricane Feeder Bands come through. I got tired of grabbing everything and running for cover every couple of minutes. Gotta do some cleanup before i get to play with the camera again

How do you like the suppressor on the Kimber? I have been debating on putting one on mine. Brian |

I don't really like suppressed .45s as they are not that quiet when dry (yes, they are wet cans but I don't like wet cans so I shoot them dry). That is just my personal opinion and most disagree since .45 cans are very popular.
Silencers got me back into 9mm although the AAC Evo-40 is excellent. I propose that manufacturers do what it takes to make their .45 cans 137 dB when dry. If that means adding 3 inches onto it, so be it. |

Perhaps the quietest, but ugliest can I ever saw. That can is about as aesthetically pleasing as a 400 pound female biker on a Harley. I looked at two of those cans today and shot one of them. Great suppressor, but they don't have the sleek look of most. |
That's a GREAT suppressor, but can you take it apart to clean it?
I know how it could be considered ugly, but I think it looks bad-ass. Form follows function. The dimples are there for a reason, etc. It is easily the best .45 ACP pistol can.
I have always heard that from everybody. I have never had much interest in the 45 cans myself. |

When shot dry, it is almost hearing safe. I forget -- maybe it was 142dB. Sometimes it does not ring my ears dry. I figure test it worst case, as that is what happens when the water runs out.
But it *should* be best. They had $500,000 of funding from the Govt. to develop it. But yes, I don't have much interest in .45 cans. I did when I ordered it because I did not know any better. I thought "As long as I am limited to 1000fps, I might as well have 230 grains." I did not realize 9mm is a joy to shoot suppressed dry and .45 -- they really mean it when they say they are wet cans. I had no idea just how much quieter 9mm is. The best 9mm pistol can dry is about 15 dB quieter than the best .45 ACP pistol can shot dry. I have said this before -- if I was designing a .45 can -- I would make it a dry can. If that means it needed to be 3 inches longer, so be it. Whatever it took to get it to 137 dB. |
I guess that really sums it up for me too. 45 suppressors are just too loud dry. I have nothing against the 45, but its just not a caliber I want to try to suppress. |
